Camden Haven Police report

Stealings

Thieves entered a home in Lake View Crescent West Haven, via an unlocked side door, between 4pm Monday January 18 and 4pm Tuesday January 19. Fishing equipment to the value of $1400 was stolen.

An attempt was made to enter a home in Railway Street Kendall between 10.30pm Tuesday January 19 and 2.30am Wednesday January 20. A garage window was smashed, fortunately nothing was stolen.

A car was stolen from a shopping centre carpark in Port Macquarie and found on fire in bushland on Diamond Head Road. Police have suspects.

Cash was stolen from a motor vehicle parked in Lake Street Laurieton at around 9pm Saturday January 16.

Between 6pm Saturday January 16 and 8am Sunday January 17 cash was stolen from a vehicle parked in Tunis Street. Police said the car was unlocked.

Thieves smashed the rear windscreen of a vehicle parked in Haven Circuit Laurieton between midnight and 8am Friday January 15. Nothing was stolen.

A white Nissan Patrol was stolen from outside a premises in Bluegum Place Kew between 10.30pm Monday January 17 and 6.15am Tuesday January 18. Police said the car was unsecured and their inquiries are continuing.

Thieves were unable to enter a home in Lake Street Laurieton thanks to a locked but partially open kitchen window. Police said the offender managed to reach through the window to steal three knives, two of which were later recovered in the garden. The attempted break in occurred some time between 1am and 4am Sunday January 17.

Three fishing rods and a tackle box were stolen from a boat parked in the yard of a St Albans Way address West Haven between 6pm Saturday January 16 and 12 noon Monday January 17.

An intruder was chased by the occupant of a home in Elizabeth Street Bonny Hills. At around 12.30am Sunday January 17 the occupant came home to see the intruder run out the front door. The occupant gave chase. The intruder is described as male, of medium build with long hair in a pony tail. Nothing was stolen from inside the home.

An adult and three children were home at the time an intruder broke into their home in Seafront Circuit Bonny Hills. The break in occurred between 2am and 8am Friday January 15. A handbag containing train tickets, camera, mobile phone, purse and a torch was stolen. Police said entry was gained by cutting a flyscreen.

A BMW was stolen from North Haven between 5.30pm Thursday January 14 and 7.50am Friday January 15. Thieves smashed a window to gain entry. Items were stolen from the car which was later located back in North Haven, damaged.

Cash, credit cards, sunglasses, bluetooth system, wallet and portable DVD player were stolen from a car parked in Rainbow Beach Road Bonny Hills. The incident occurred between 6pm Thursday January 14 and 7am Friday January 15.

A barbecue and gas bottle were stolen from a caravan park in Bonny Hills between 11pm Monday January 11 and 8am Tuesday January 12.

A cash tin was stolen from a business in Lake Street Laurieton between 1.30am and 2pm Tuesday January 12.

At around 3.30am Tuesday January 12 a noise in an annexe alerted a holiday maker to thieves stealing two camp chairs. The occupant noticed five people getting into a red Toyota Prado. The theft occurred at caravan park in Bonny Hills.

A wallet was stolen from the bonnet of a car parked in a caravan park in Bonny Hills, as the owner unpacked goods from the boot. The theft occurred at 11am Saturday January 9.

An esky full of drinks was stolen from a caravan park in Bonny Hills between 8am and 5pm Friday January 1.

Between 3am and 5am Friday January 1 a Mongoose men’s bike was stolen from a caravan park in North Haven. Police said thieves used a knife to cut a rope securing the bike. Police said after the victim gave chase thieves returned and stole a second men’s Mongoose bike.

Car keys and a Toyota Rav 4 were stolen from Honeysuckle Avenue Bonny Hills between 7pm Monday January 4 and 7.30am Tuesday January 5. The vehicle was later recovered in scrubland near Sharky’s Beach.

A home in Hill Street Bonny Hills was broken into between 7am and 7.45am December 24. Police said entry was gained via an unlocked rear door. A wallet was stolen.

Two vehicles had their windows smashed by thieves while parked at North Haven Beach carpark. A mobile phone and Navman was stolen from a the first vehicle and two mobile phones from the second. The thefts occurred between 1pm and 3pm Sunday January 3.

A number of items were stolen from residences in Railway Street Kendall between 11pm Saturday January 2 and 8am Sunday January 3. Items stolen include fishing rods, fish finder, wallet and stereo. Police said the items were stolen from garages and backyards.

Wallets, phones and cameras were stolen from the rear verandah of a premises in Kurnai Close West Haven while two fishing rods were stolen from a car parked in the front yard between 12.30am and 9am Saturday January 2.

Between 8pm Friday January 1 and 8.30am Saturday January 2 a white Holden Rodeo was stolen from outside a Comboyne Street Kendall address, with the registration plate MKU 190. As of last Thursday, the vehicle had not been recovered.

A number of gaming consoles were stolen from a home in Flinders Drive Laurieton between 8.30pm Thursday December 31 and 1.30am Friday December 1. Police said entry to the home was gained via an unlocked side door.

At 2pm Thursday December 31 a red Holden Commodore wagon was located on Ocean Drive North Haven. A check revealed the car had been stolen while standing for sale at the intersection Kew Road and Ocean Drive.

Police encourage anyone with information on any of the above incidents to contact them. They also urge people to secure their items and be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour. Laurieton Police can be contacted on 65599044.

Vandalism

At 12.25am Tuesday January 19 police came across a fire hose that had been pulled from the Lakewood Shopping Centre and turned on. Police spoke to a number of youths on the scene. Police said it was fortunate not a lot of water had been lost.

A rock was thrown through the first floor window of a premises in Ocean Drive Bonny Hills some time between 7pm Monday January 11 and 10am Tuesday January 12.

Between 11.30pm Friday January 8 and 9am Saturday January 9 paint was sprayed on the wall of a Bold Street business.

A business on Ocean Drive Kew had a window smashed between 6.30pm Monday January 4 and 9.30am Wednesday January 6.

Paint was sprayed on the external walls of properties in Binbilla Drive Bonny Hills between 7pm Thursday December 31 and 9am Friday December 1.

Traffic incidents

At 1.15am Sunday January 17 a Hannam Vale man was observed driving near Elizabeth Street Bonny Hills. The man was charged with driving while exceeding a special range prescribed concentration of alcohol.

A male driver was stopped by police at 1.20am Sunday January 17. Police allege the driver accelerated to a speed of 120kph in a 60kph zone at Palmer Street Lake Cathie. The driver returned a blood alcohol level of 0.065 and was charged with driving with a low-range prescribed concentration of alcohol.

A 13-year-old boy was lucky not to receive more serious injuries when he was hit by a car while riding his bike along Beach Street near Bonny Ridge Drive Bonny Hills. Police said the incident occurred at 12.45pm Saturday January 2 and the boy, a holiday maker, was not wearing a helmet when he crossed into the path of the car. He was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police are reminding all bike riders to wear helmets.

Police are investigating a crash between a semi trailer and Mitsubishi Magna on the Pacific Highway near Herons Creek. At around 4.20pm Tuesday January 19 police allege the white Magna was in the process of overtaking the semi when the bullbar on the prime mover clipped the front of the Magna. The impact caused the car to rotate and collide with the front of the prime mover, continue to rotate and leave the highway. The car collided heavily with a tree. Two occupants in the car were trapped for several minutes before being freed by State Emergency Service volunteers. They were taken by ambulance to Port Macquarie Base Hospital and later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle with serious injuries.

Alerts

Police will be conducting safety audits of all licensed firearms in the region over the next five months. Notices will not be sent to gun owners informing them of audit times. Police advise those with firearms to be ready for their audit.

Suspicious character

Police attended Pilot Beach at 2.50pm Saturday January 9 after receiving reports a man was taking photographs of young children. Police conducted a search of the man’s car and computer and ordered the man to move on. Police said the man was a tourist and has since left the area.

Lost property

Police located a body board outside the amenities block at Rainbow Beach Bonny Hills on Monday January 11.

A wedding and engagement ring were lost between 11am and 1pm Saturday January 16 at Laurieton Pool. If found please hand to police.

A ladies watch was found at a service station in North Haven.

A black mobile phone was handed to police on Saturday January 15.
