Leading carnival identity at 2009 show

19 Feb, 2009 08:25 AM
ROY MOLOY is coming to the Camden Haven Show on the Saturday afternoon 28th February. Roy Maloy claims to be Australia's leading carnival identity. Each year he tours various shows throughout Australia, the UK, USA and Asia, performing up to 50 weeks a year and over 1000 hours! His material and shows are enormously varied and are specifically designed to cater for the unique audience type found in a carnival, festival and family environments.

Over the past 10 years Roy has built up an enormous following of fans and is known, particularly in Australia, as an iconic Australian comedian that can be enjoyed by all age groups. He currently holds the world record for tallest stilts ever walked on - 17m high!

He has been described variously as 'The Prince of Australian Vaudeville' (Herald Sun), likened in comedic ability to Graeme Kennedy (Victorian Senior) and positioned alongside the Jimmy Sharman Boxing Troupe for his spiralling reputation in regional Australia (Philip Adams - Late Night Live ABC Radio), Roy Maloy has become one of the most highly sought after live performers in the country.

It is Roy's belief that the average patron at a carnival is roaming about, looking at the displays and milling between attractions. They usually only stop here and there for short periods of time. Roy Maloy has made an institution of himself by developing a number of shows that endear themselves to the exact dynamics of a carnival audience. The shows that Roy brings to a carnival can be either big or small, stationary or roaming, and capitalise on the number of people at the show while utilising what's available and adding to the atmosphere.

A typical appearance by Roy Maloy at a carnival or agricultural style show could take a range of formats including fire breathing, bed of nails, stilts and Poi Poi show, escapology show, balloon tying show on stilts, barrel and board show, illusions show, prop-comedy shows, knife throwing show or tightrope show.

No one yet knows which of these will be seen at the Kendall showground at the end of the month, so the only way to find out for yourself is to be there!
