IN the still of night on Saturday January 28 two Laurieton teens decided to see how much mud they could rip up by performing burnouts and donuts on Vince Inmon sporting fields. At 12.20am police were alerted to their activities by the noise of the cars, which could be clearly heard at the police station just a block away. Police attended the scene and saw a silver and black Daihatsu Charade and a green Toyota Starlet on the sporting fields creating the noise. Police stopped the cars and spoke to the two 17-year-old male drivers, one from Laurieton and the other from North Haven. They were later issued with traffic infringement notices for performing burnouts.
A number of items were stolen from a campsite in a Bonny Hills caravan park between 8pm Friday January 27 and 7am Saturday January 28. The stolen items included a mobile phone, ipod and Nintendo DS game console.
Four fishing rods were stolen from a caravan park in North Haven between midnight and 7.30am Saturday January 28.
Two mountain bikes reported stolen in the Camden Haven Courier last week, have been recovered. The bikes were stolen on Australia Day from a caravan park in North Haven. They were recovered at a bus shelter on Ocean Drive West Haven and have been returned to their owners.
Police have identified one person responsible for damaging the shade sail of a café in Lake Cathie in the Woolworths shopping complex. Between 10pm and 11pm Friday January 27 a number of youths were seen climbing on the shade sail. The damage caused may result in a costly repair bill of over $1,000. Police inquiries are continuing.
The driver of a blue Nissan X-Trail collided with a tree on Diamond Head Road at 10am Wednesday February 1. Police report that the vehicle was travelling east on Diamond Head Road when the driver lost control near the turn off to the Blackbutt camp ground. The driver was not injured and received a traffic infringement for negligent driving.
A nursing home in West Haven was broken into between 6pm Wednesday February 1 and 8am Thursday February 2. The offenders broke into a common room and stole a plasma television, two NEC computers and two plastic urns. During the same timeframe a pair of sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Police inquiries are continuing.
A red Mitsubishi Pajero stolen from Owen Street Port Macquarie was found burnt out near Lake Cathie. The vehicle was stolen between 11pm Wednesday February 1 and 6.45am Thursday February 2. The vehicle was found at 2pm February 2 at the Perch Hole on Ocean Drive Lake Cathie.
