Have a laugh, do some good for yourself and people suffering Motor Neurone Disease this Friday by being part of the Laurieton Pool’s annual business house relay.
The fun begins with a splash at 6pm. This year all money raised with go to local MND battler and campaigner Ann Overton who, along with her family and close friends, are working hard to raise funds to find a cure to this cruel disease.
The relay event is not about speed but consistency. Your team’s first swim in the handicapped relay on the night will be your “entry time” and you need to stick close to that to remain in the competition.
So gather teams of four from your workplace, sporting club, gym class, school etc, fill in a registration form available from the pool and register with your fee of $40 per team on the night or, preferably, register before.
“You can swim or dog paddle with whatever aids you like, as long as you swim to you nominated time you’ll come out the prize winners,” said pool manager Brad Holt.
“So whether you want to swim in flippers, full scuba gear or a pink fairy outfit with wings, tiara and a fluffy tutu, gather your team and have a go.”
Between relay events will be a Dash for Cash - an open event with $50 cash up for grabs for the fastest lap of the pool (33metres). Entries for the Dash for Cash will be taken on the night but you must be part of a relay team to enter. Children’s novelty events will also be held between relay races, the toddler pool will be open to children under 5 years old only. There will also be a prize for the King of the Pool - the fastest relay team. Barbecue, hot food and drinks will be available. So register now for the Laurieton Pool Business House Relay.
