Eagles at home tonight

01 Jul, 2009 10:15 AM
THE Camden Haven Eagles will take on Port City tonight (Wednesday) at Laurieton Oval in all grades with the under 18’s commencing at 5.30pm. All supporters are urged to come along as all games promise to be hard fought clashes between traditional rivals.

The Camden Haven Eagles travelled to Taree on Saturday to take on the Bulls in the under 18’s Wauchope in Reserve grade with 1st grade having the bye. The women’s league tag were forced to forfeit after a change in the draw.

In the under 18’s both sides produced some good play in the first half with the Eagles scoring first and the Bulls replying soon after. The Eagles lifted and seemed to have the upper hand as they went to the break and continued on early in the second half to control the game.

With 15 minutes to go and the Eagles leading 24-8 mistakes and missed tackles from the Eagles gave the Bulls plenty of chances as they came back to lead 26-24. With only minutes remaining, the Eagles worked their way into the Bulls half and received 2 consecutive penalties taking the kick for goal on the second. The conversion by Sam Watts was successful to take the final score to 26-26.

Tries went to Kurt Eames 1, Brendon Farnsworth 1, Mitch Turner 1, Ben Ramsey 1, Ben Dixon 1 and Sam Watts 3 goals.

Reserve Grade

The Eagles reserves took on Wauchope and early mistakes made it was easy for the Blues to post two tries soon after to put the Eagles behind the eight ball from the start. To their credit the Eagles fought back and started to compete but the early points made it difficult as the Blues kept their nose in front at half time.

The second half was an even contest with the Eagles showing promise with good ball movement resulting in more points but Wauchope stayed in front as the Eagles went down 24-12. Tries to Sam Watts, Shaune Pierce 1 and Scott Parker 2 goals.

This Saturday’s games will be at Laurieton oval with under 18’s commencing 12.30pm. Everyone had a great night last Saturday at Laurieton Hotel at the 80’s night fundraiser. Thankyou to Troy Bird and Glen Knight for their support and Sue, Ami, Kerry and Tracy for their organisation before and on the night.

Go the Eagles!
