Fine day's sailing on the lake

08 Feb, 2012 09:06 AM
A good fleet of nine boats enjoyed a delightful day on Queens Lake.

The breeze was a light Easterly which gradually shifted South East during the race.

From a tightly contested start, Senior’s Moment got the best of a shift and was first around the top mark. The light wind didn’t favour those boats with spinnakers and it took Castleton Marine all of the next reach to assert its superiority. Next to overtake was the consistent Aqua Rodent picking the best downwind angles on the square run.

Cracker Jack and Bernard the Boat had terrific tussle with the advantage changing several times before Cracker Jack got the upper hand.

It was a long race, and although the fleet was well spread at the finish, each skipper could feel well pleased with the results.

First home was Castleton Marine (David Castleton) followed by Aqua Rodent (Rohan Nosworthy) and Senior’s Moment (Greg Marshall). Then came Cracker Jack, Bernard the Boat, Watt Fun, Rumpus, Deep Purple and Spindoctor.
