LAKE CATHIE/BONNY HILLS JUNIOR LEAGUE

Under 10’s Lake Cathie lost to Forster 6-16 at Tuncurry. The first half was action packed and showed our team at its best. Ryan Francis scored an amazing try and Jack Williams kicked the goal with ease. The excitement was unreal. The score was 16 -6 at half time, in Forster's favour. Second half worked our team hard and they each need a huge pat on the back for their efforts. They were 2 players down and playing 9 against 11 Forster players. As Gary said it was your 'best game all year', so lets keep it up and train hard for next weekends duo! Please make a special effort to be at training, so you can all train as a team. Nicholas Burrell was awarded Player of the Match and Ryan Francis was the Runner Up -well done boys. Go the Raiders!

CH REDBACKS

JUNIOR SOCCER

Colonial Court Bakery

Under 6’s

This weeks game was played with lots of enthusiasm and great defence. Jordan, who was our player of the week played a great game and is improving every week. George scored 2 fantastic goals and received the “sportstar of the week” award. Jacob found a break and ran straight for the goals from half way down the field and scored a beautiful goal. Ely, Maddi and Joel all showed excellent teamwork and played a top game. Well done everyone on another very enjoyable game.

Dannielle.

Karabel Homes U 7’s –v- Port Dragons.

We thought this would be a tough game with only 4 players and no games or training for a couple of weeks. We got of to a great start thanks to Liam who scored a fantastic solo goal down the field and then followed up with a determined goal from in front getting past 3 Port players. Layton followed on with 4 goals and good running with the ball down the field. Ben did strong hard kicks in from the sideline and great chasing and tackling. Owen backed up well in defence and supported well in attack. Good to see Ben and Owen spreading out and covering the field. A great game with a 100% effort from all 4 boys. Thanks to Port for only putting 4 players on the field as well. Hope to see Josh and Matthew back next week. Congratulations to player and goal scorer of the week Liam.

CH Widders Consultancy v Wauchope Axemen

Camden Haven played Wauchope at home this week and with a few sick kids we didn’t have many reserves. The first 10 minutes was a good tussle between the two teams before the Reds got on top of the game with a couple of goals. Michael at fullback didn’t let Wauchope have many chances with his strong defence which earned him Man of the Match. Second half of the game was all Havens with quite a few more goals scored. Some excellent passing between Jeb and Krystal was good to see. We need a bit more participation and effort from everyone in our team so we will see you all at training. Final score 10 nil.

RHK Motel Under 13 Girls v Port Saints

One of our bravest performances this year even though we went down by one nil you can hold your heads high girls with just 10 players you made us proud. A draw would have been a more just result.

See you at training - keep having fun.

U11 C H Ray White R/E V Kempsey Saints

It was good finally to play a game after so much wet weather. Unfortunately in the last 5 minutes till full time Kempsey scored 1 goal to win. Try to stay in your set positions. Even though we haven’t trained much when we do have a good training session it usually reflects more on the weekend game. Just a reminder there will be no training today 1.7.09 as we have a catch up game at Wauchope. Please be there at 6pm.

LUSC FISHING CLUB

Gidday punters, my humblest apologies to all for the lack of fishing club write ups over the last couple of months and its all due to my work commitments and I know its a poor excuse but it is the only one I have, so I'm sorry. Just to bring you all up to date here are a few of the outstanding catches that some of our members have recorded over the last couple of months. Peter Hayes - 1.83kg Bream and 19.1kg Jewfish, Gary Williams - 3.385kg Drummer, Andy Martin - 2.8kg Dolphin Fish and a new all time club record John Dory at 2.640kg (sorry young Ken), Dylan Baldry - 4.22kg Taylor and a 24kg Jewfish. Well done to all.

Well mother nature dished up another perfect weekend for fishing with sunny skies and flat seas, well that's what was on the TV at the time. Then I looked out the window and asked myself when we were going to get a break as far as the weather is concerned. Our deep sea fleet are asking the same question, when? Well to all that fished last weekend, you need a medal.

To the winners: junior estuary winner Mitchell Lowe and Ben Lobston runner up. Junior beach and rock winner Mitchell Lowe.

Men's vets estuary winner Kiwi O'Neil. Men's beach and rock winner Col Trenaman and runner up was Gary Edwards. Ladies vets beach and rock winner was Bev Clarke. Well done to all.

Treno's tip: When 4 wheel driving you must take care when crossing a creek or river. The experts suggest that you first walk the crossing that you intend to navigate to check the condition of the bottom and locate any hazards that may be obscured from view. They also suggest that you negotiate that crossing with care and at low speed, not a 100 yard run up at 100rpm as this will cause the vehicle to bounce and bottom out. This will create all sorts of problems, not only for the driver but any passengers that are travelling in the vehicle (they could spill their beer). It is also a problem for any onlookers as this may cause them to erupt into fits of laughter and nearly fall off the rock platform that they are fishing from. I believe that the Mitsubishi Car Company is in the process of making a vehicle fitted with floaties for special drivers.

Just a quick reminder that our next fishing comp is on 25th and 26th July, starting time is 6pm Friday 24th July and weigh in is at 1pm Sunday at the rear of the LUSC club, all members and people wishing to join the fishing club are invited to attend. Also for those members that are interested, the NSW Rock and Beach championships are being held at Yamba on August 1st and 2nd and the NSW Deep Sea championships are being held at Port Macquarie on August 28th and 29th. Remember you gotta be in it to win it, until next time, happy hunting".

CH BOMBERS

JUNIOR AFL

It was great to get out on the park after a extended break due to weather. The Camden Haven Vet Clinic Under 12 Bombers were up against the Port Magpies at Stuarts Park, and the Bombers had to be on their game to compete with the Magpies after a great game only two weeks earlier. The team got off to a great start and pushed forward with every opportunity. The leadership shown by Lachlan Albion, Mitch Dickson, and Conor Haswell was great and the rest of the team clicked into gear as they started to move the ball through the middle of the field in good numbers. Once again our starting on ball brigade of Trent Finch, Blake Hudson, Mitch and Conor really worked hard and continued to break through the Magpies defence by applying great pressure, tackling and ball movement, Jackson Boswell was outstanding in the ruck and worked hard to bring the ball down to his team mates on the ground. Trent Clarke, Jeremy Hanks, Monique Kelly, Cassandra Wright, Thomas Gammon, worked hard up forward and never gave away an easy possession which made it difficult for the Magpies to move forward. Lachlan, Tahlia Rakete, Josh Foreman, James Wright, Callum Vanderent were strong down the back ensuring that their opponents had a difficult time and keeping their scoring opportunities down. The improvement of everyone showed through in the last quarter and the Bombers came out very deserving winners. Final Scores were Bombers 8 Goals, 5 Behinds 53 to Port Magpies 5 Goals , 5 Behinds, 35. The Taste Bakery awards were well deserved by Jeremy who played in the midfield for the second half of the game and showed how much his game has improved with some great contests and hard running. Jackson was awarded the second award for his efforts in the Ruck and around the ground.

Under 14's

On a heavy Stuarts Park at Port Macquarie the Laurieton Hote/Motel sponsored Camden Haven Bombers proved their premiership favourtism by trouncing Wauchope 16-12-108 to 4-5-29 on Sunday. Wauchope never stopped coming and provided a better contest than the scoreline indicates. Hayden Clarke had his cage rattled a couple of times which may have motivated him to a 5 goal haul. He was a tower of strength and was the go to man up front. Owen Geard returned to the fold and picked up 3 goals as if he had never stopped playing despite his 2 year absence. Bryce Hayward was the other main contributor with 3 goals, all the more impressive as he played most of the game in defence. The Taste Bakehouse awards went ot Josh Witchard who was at his skilful best with some ball control of genuine class, and Ari Vanderent who is becoming more focused in his attack on the ball. Peter Prendergast, Brennan O'Donnell, Corinne Wilkes and ever improving Mason Mozeley were tradesman like in their performances and used the ball effectively. Stepping up after playing under 12's , ball magnet Conor Haswell played a cameo along with Blake Hudson, Lachlan Albion, and Josh Foreman who stepped into the midfield and did not look out of place. A 6 goal first quarter set up what was an emphatic result from a still improving team.

The club would like to send out a huge thank you to all our sponsors, Laurieton Hotel/Motel, Camden Haven Vet Clinic, Taste Bakery, Laurieton Video Haven, Chicken on the Run, and Laurieton Parcel Service for all their support.

Next week sees the under 12's take on the undefeated Port Power whilst the under 14's face the second placed Port Magpies, both games being at Stuarts Park, Port Macquarie.

Camden Haven Eagles

Junior League

U6's

On Saturday the Eagles travelled to Forster and I think they were pretty hungry to play after all the wet weather. The boys scored 5 tries to 3. Their defence was incredible, and with a few players out this week, they defended their line with great commitment. Our 2 players of the week were Rhyan Hudson & Joshua Bradbury. Rhyan is very consistant and sometimes I think he runs that fast, his legs get to the try line before he does. Also Joshua improved out of sight, his tackling was outstanding and he saved a couple of tries as he mixed it up with the bigger boys. Special mentions go to Kody Green, Izach Dennis & Rhys Hanlon. It's always great to see the boys put in like they did. It was a great effort by everyone who took the field.

See you at training.

CH Eagles Junior League

Under 8’s

Well finally the weather was fine and there was some footy to be played. We headed off to Forster to tackle the Forster Hawks. We had two games, Forster Green and Forster Gold. Our first game was Forster Gold with the boy’s coming away with a hard faught win. This was the hardest team they have come up against, winning 24-16. This was a very entertaining game to watch with the defence from both sides outstanding.

Game two was Forster Green with plenty of points scored winning 54-24. Our support play was excellent with that hard work at training paying dividends, resulting in some fantastic tries. I can’t single out one player as the whole team were superb. So to all 11 of the team, I am proud of your performance. Back at home this Saturday to take on Glouster, so let’s keep up the effort at training and continue to have a great time. Thanks to Harry, Wayne and Mark for picking our best and fairest points for the two games, I know how difficult it must have been.

LUSC Mens Social Golf

Sunday morning saw 17 starters turn up to a soggy but sunny Kew golf course. The game on the day was the dash for cash and 12 golfers had qualified for the event. Stroke events are always hard but when there’s money to be had it brings out the tiger in everyone. Burgling Bob Clark turned up with his game face on to take home the major prize while Slate gave Al Hall the day off to finish runner-up (well done fellas). Everyone in the next six months to qualify for the next dash for cash. Sladie took home the consolation voucher for the stroke event in conjunction (thanks for the Keno ticket Chang & Troy). Next week will be an Ambrose event followed by our AGM with drinks and a BBQ. Dates to remember: Batos day August 2; trip to Kempsey August 30; overnight trip to Sawtell October 24.

Mick Manyjobs.

Camden Haven Netball Club

The weather was kind to us for a change and we were able to play, it’s been such a stop/start season hasn’t it? The clouds were hanging around all day but apart from a couple of sprinkles they didn’t empty the whole load on us. Anyway, down to business - the Netta girls are looking forward to their carnival on June 28, and we hope all the netta teams enjoy what will be a great day of netball for them. North Haven Bowling Club, Camden Haven Panel Works, Wiggly Tail Butchery and Mid Coast Tree Service all had great games and I might take this opportunity to praise their coaches who are really teaching these young girls well, with loads of encouragement and kindness, well done.

Dragon Boaters News

Saturday June 13, saw a number of our members gather at the Laurieton United Services Club for a ‘brainstorming’ session re the Club’s future plans.

It was a great format for discussion and lots of ideas for both the long and short term were put forward. A priority list of ideas was established and will be put forward at our next meeting to be forward. A priority list of ideas was established and will be put forward at our next meeting to be held on Tuesday July 7, at 7pm. Members are encouraged to attend this meeting to vote on many items - this will be one of the most important meetings in our Club’s short history.

The weather hasn’t been too kind for most sports but according to one of our regular paddlers it hasn’t stopped us - indeed comments from bystanders such as “you are mad” show just how keen our crews are to hone their skills in all conditions.

Our Regatta set down for August 16, is being organised currently and once permission from Maritime Services and the Council are received then the efforts will be doubled. Volunteers for all positions will be called for at our July meeting, we will need as many as we can get to make the day a success. We are extremely keen to make this day a succes and justify the sponsorship we have received from the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce and Laurieton United Service Club as well as our individual sponsor Ms Yvonne Fisher.

July 19, is set down as the date on which we may be hosting an Officials Course and many of our members have indicated their willingness to attend this course.
