CH REDBACKS

JUNIOR SOCCER

U/10 C.H Ray White R/E V Wauchope Bullocks

A drop in temperature at Wauchope must have led the team to a downfall. We saw attempts at goals from Sam, Tayne, Nathan and Ben. S but we just couldn’t land any. David, Ben. M and Isaac were in on the action. Well done also to Riley, Aaron and Beth. Play was in the oppositions half till the break which saw a 0-0 score. Toby and Lachlan did well as goalies. Wauchope became focused and came away with a 2-0 win. A couple of times we were out of positions but it is a learning process. We have a lot of games ahead and we’ll accept the loss and re-group for next week.

U9's Kumbak Bakery V's Port United Turtles

Some good ball skill shown in the first half by the whole team. Good defence & tackling from Max & Luke M, great soccer from Luke R. We had Ben, Tamika, Josh, Jackson & Max all having shots for goals but no net. Fletcher in goals saved a few from Port but 1 slipped in, 1 Nil at half time.

Second half saw Luke M in goals saving them with his head! well done Luke. Josh gave maximum performance scoring the first goal putting us on the board. 1 all.Great cross from Fletcher allowing Ben to find net. 2-1. A hard tackle from Port had Max doing a backflip (great drama Max) with 10 mins to go Max scored an own goal putting us 2 all. We had some great goal shots from Josh, Tamika, Max, Ben, Luke R, Jackson & Fletcher. With a lot of hard chasing & excellent team work we scored once more to win 3-2. Close game. Keep up the good work kids. Remember not to kick the ball across our goal, Max showed us why...

U/8 CH Blue Widders Consultancy

Our second game into the season and everyone is playing really well. Jack in goals to start with huge clearance kicks kept Port chasing, Jeb, Harrison and Joshua kept the field going with Tyron and Michael. Timothy had a go in goals for second half, good job Tim.

Even though full time score was 3-1 to Port, everyone had a good game and gave their best. Keep it up boys, see you at training.

U/8 QN Interiors vs

Port Saint Tigers

We played a very good team this week which was made harder by not listening to Les. We have seen you play like they did but you need to concentrate on your game and play in the position that Les tells you - if he tells you to stay at the back then stay there. More than a few times throughout the game Les could have thrown a blanket over the whole team which means spread out. Tackles should be one on one and NOT on your own team mate, so spread out and STOP taking the ball from your own team mate. Some good hard tackles were made but then the good work was undone by fairy kicks.

LUSC YD1 v

Kempsey Saints

Home game played at Wauchope. Always in control early on, however Kempsey broke our last line and with Westy off his line their striker chipped one in. We regained composure and equalised soon after a long shot from Daniel Trompert found a huge gap between the keepers legs 1-1 at the break. We then had the majority of the attack and eventually Josh Robinson pounced on a ball in a mad scramble and poked it into the net. Kempsey then received a penalty for an infringement in the box however, super keeper Westwood pulled off a howler and kept us in front and then Daniel Trompert made it 3-1 when given a second opportunity - final score. A little work to be done yet discipline, positional play and passing. Still no luck for D Arnold with those dreaded posts. Keep having fun guys see you at training.

LUSC Lawn Bowls

Thursday was a very good day for bowls, weather was good, a little breezy, but that only called for a little more concentration. Before we start on the results of the day, I would like to inform all members that we have a new secretary. Committeeman Alan Bradford has taken on the duty after Freda Chinnery resigned. We do take this opportunity to sincerely thank Freda for all the time and effort that she is selfishly devoted to her duties and the committe particularly say thank you Freda for a job well done, they tell me Alan was the secretary to BHP (Bloody Help Please) for some time. Now on the results of the championships: Pairs W Gardner and three arm Wyper defeated Roy Curly Johnson and John Brown. Looselips Milner and Banjo Patterson defeated Ron Bartholomew and Butcher Boy Lane. Pistol Stan Gunns and sub Pat Guthrie defeated Ray Allan and John Bennett. Trevor Rose and Jerry Janik defeated Percy Fry and Mike Carney by one shot on the last end, and in the singles, J Moore defeated smokin Joe Bishop and F Honeyman defeated Ron Morris. Congratulations to the winners, commiserations to the losers. Next weeks games are pairs, B Shorter and John Moore play J Wyper and Ron church, Allan Beattie and W Hyde play Rob Nixon and Stan Gunns. Minor Singles Ray Hennessy plays Steve Kingsbury marker Ron Morris. Arthur Stewart plays Fred Easterbrook marker Steve Webster. Trevor Brauer plays Clarrie Lane marker Mike Carney. The best of luck to all, may you all get your share of lucky wicks. The social game winners were rink 1st winners, Rob McCullum, R Chindler and John Clark, 2nd winners were A Russell, K Nieans and Alan Clarke. Trevor Rose and Jerry Janik I think. First runner-up Ray Johnston and John Brown, 2nd runner-up Col Jarrett, David Woolger and Roy Woolgar, 3rd runner-up Greg Clarke, Don Appleby and Mark Hammond. Lucky number winners were $20 H Baldry, $10 Bob Constable, $5 Brian Templeman. Christmas club winners were David Wong, Roy Woolger and Pistol Gunns, $25 to each to those gents. Visitors Roger Faddy from Eastlakes, Ian Johnson North Haven, David Woolger Wentworth Leagues and B Muyer from Lake Cathie. A big welcome to our new member Charles Doyle. Sick list Jim Smith, Eddie Earle, Jack Madeley, Bob Nixon. You will have to give it up for a while Bob and give that back a rest, and Allan Beattie, the only thing that makes him sick is paying out money. Birthdays Mike Carney April Fools Day, James also, and Reg Boydell just missed it April 2. I hope you all had a great day. Lady bowlers day on Wednesday last, attendance a little better, Pennants will finish soon, so they are looking at a few more players then. Only one winner last week Betty Thomas won the bowls and the raffle, what luck eh. By now I hope you all know we are having a mixed bowls visit from Taree West at North Haven Club playing for the shield so bring your best bowls along on Sunday April 20, starting 9.30am, followed by a two course lunch. Then the draw for heaps of prizes, to be won the cost is only $13 per head which is like a bikini, it covers most things. The sheet is on the notice board so get your names down now or ring Jack Madeley on 6559 7168, and visitors welcome. The sheet comes down on April 16. Our annual mixed gala day will be held at North Haven Bowling Club on Sunday May 18. This day is one of our super fun days. A huge meat tray even by Mike Carney’s estimation, plenty of members draws, you must be there to win those and a two course meal (potatoes and pumpkin) after bowls. The sheet will be up on the board shortly, visitors welcome, goodness me we are a friendly club. An early reminder, that your membership fees $2 will be collected on this day, all other information will be given to you at a later date. We don’t want to confuse anybody. Freda is still organising the Wednesday women bowls, so roll, turn up and bring your money with you.

Seventeen starters were at the first tee on Sunday April 6, for a foursome event, which, confused some of us, but all had an enjoyable day. Welcome to Adam who had his first game with us this week.

The winners for the day were Bake and Bat from runners-up President Phil and swinger Bat. The winners of the CHAFT shirts were Giggles and Louise from Christine and Narelle. Please remember to bring the CHAFT shirts back so they can be worn the next week. NTP on the 3rd to Loise, 2nd shot on the 4th to Bat, Longest Drive on the 8th to Lisa and Allan and no-one got nearest the pin on the 9th.

Many contenders for the Happy Gilmore award again this week with Bills drive on the 3rd failing to make the ladies tee but Allan not to be out done with his drive on the 4th which, saw Pom hitting the second shot from behind the tee off. Jamie in his first game for a while found all the wrong fairways and Louise and Kylie spent most of the day in the trees. Jason thought he was safe hiding behind the tree but Bat still managed to hit him.

Our day trip to South West Rocks has been finalised for Sunday April 20. Cost for the day is $40, which includes a smorgasbord lunch. Bus will leave the Club at 6.30am. If you would like to play put your names in with President Phil.

Our next social golf game at Royal Kew will be Sunday May 4, with a 6.30am tee off followed by the usual BBQ. Just a reminder that if you haven’t paid for money membership and shirts could you please do so.

LUSC Snooker

Last Tuesday saw Jimbo Gill back in action winning the major final. After taking out insurance last year, Jim reckons the fine print made this idea a waste of money. Runner-up Don “The Poet” Colyer returns and plays a blinder but Jim just gets the money (that’s another chop off the debt). Minor Final “Old Smoothie’” Lenard leads the point score with this win “The Beaver” goes down spray bottles - eye drops and whatever else he carries around he probably should be down at “Armstrong Oysters” feeding on those lovely prawns.

Thursday Major Final “I’m a little bit country” Keven Jarrett plays some top shots put them together with a healthy handicap and that”s good enough to topple the club champ. “Glen Kunze” Glen will be at “Legends Cafe Kew” a good feed and he will win many finals. Minor Final our friend “The Penguin” John Benson just loves “Beechers Meats.” The meat is so good he reckons taking on players like “The Snake Man” is so easy he’s thinking of only eating the stuff twice a week.

The early start “6pm” has gone off smoothly, gee it’s good to get home in time to see the “Footy Show.” Next interclub game Sunday April 20, North Haven Bowling Club, “The Boss and his Gang.”

Yes Tuesday’s and Thursday’s names before 6pm visitors welcome.
