Distance no problem as Black Caviar posts 18th straight win

11 Feb, 2012 03:20 PM

She had never run further than 1200 metres before, but the Orr Stakes [1400 metres] at Caulfield was simply a procession for Black Caviar today, as the $1.05 favourite posted an 18th successive win.

The undefeated champion mare settled perfectly for jockey Luke Nolen off the rail behind the leading pair of Danzylum and Midas Touch, with the tempo only moderate.

Nolen eased her out three wide around the turn and within 50 metres she had raced to the front, before cruising to a 3¼-length win over Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed [$16] and Playing God [$61].

"It's mind boggling. What she can do to good horses, it's just beyond belief," said an emotional trainer Peter Moody.

Moody is still to confirm where Black Caviar mare will have her next start and there is some chance that she will back up in the Group One $750,000 Lightning Stakes at Flemington next Saturday.
