The training day was organised by Sempai David Hearne at his Martial Arts Dojo at Port Macquarie.
He said local students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot about Karate, perseverance and fitness including the importance of learning self defence strategies.
"I have been training in Kyokushin most of my life. I love it. It has given me the skills I need to look after myself at work, where I work as a police officer in Port Macquarie," he said.
"I was so happy to host this event and give my guys [students] a chance to mingle with a piece of history, the last connection to a great founder Sosai Oyama.
"John Taylor is one in a million. His visit here was nothing ordinary."
Mr Hearne has been training in traditional full contact bare knuckle Karate for over eighteen years and said the Port Macquarie Kyokushin Karate Club was the only one of its kind between Sydney and Tweed Heads.
"I was graded by Hanshi John Taylor to black belt. I was so honoured to receive the accolade from the highest ranking man on earth," he said.
"Kyokushin offers real, effective and practical self defence that is affordable and fun.
"Training is not a push over, but your efforts are rewarded in so many ways, both physically and mentally," he added.
