Last Wednesday 21 members competed in a Single Stroke event on a course which is still rather boggy in places. Our A Grade winner was Neville McCarthy with a score of 52. Runner-up was Laurie Hamilton with a 53 on countback from third placegetter, Roland Grimmit. B Grade's best was Brian Johnston with a score of 54 followed by runner-up Merv McLean with a 56. Third place was not awarded due to the low numbers of B Grade players. NTP on the 5th in A grade was Peter Raschke and in B Grade Rick Bower won the ball. NTP on the 8th in A Grade was Peter Raschke again but no one from B Grade made the green. A Grade putting went to Andy Aitken with 23 putts and in B Grade Col Huntley won on countback with 26 putts. Next week's game will be a Single Stableford and the starters will be Trevor Rose and kevin Nieass. The Sunday raffle will be under the direction of Frank Underhill, Trevor Rose and Fred Paine. Through years of experience I have found that air offers less resistance than dirt- Jack Nicklaus on why he tees the ball so high.

JUNIOR LEAGUE
The Eagles 6's played Old Bar at home on Saturday and really played well. I am starting to see some structure to their game which is very pleasing when you consider how old these boys are. The drills we do at training are starting to sink in. Our two players of the week this week were Kai Sanfead and James Coulter. Kai was very unlucky , being tackled just before the line on two occasions. James Coulter always tries hard and is going to be one big unit when he grows older. Levi Berry our youngest player was terrific, he played the entire match and ran the ball up on a few occasions. Once again, everyone pitched in and tackled well, and that was reflected on the scoreboard as Old Bar who were undefeated were denied any points. Eagles scored 5 tries to nil.
See you at training."
U/7’s
This weekend the under 7s played Old Bar at home. The line up consisted of Peter, Damien, Jack R, Mitch, Dylan, Casey, Dean, Jake, Jack T, Matt and Kade. Although it was sunny, the wind was a menace and all were a bit worried when Old Bar crashed over for a try not long after kick off. That worry was soon forgotten as all the boys hit their straps tackling like nothing else and being there when Old Bar offloaded to pick up the scraps. All boys ran the ball hard and backed each other up. This was probably the best game they have had yet and the effort and teamwork was reflected in the scoreline which was 40 to 4. Well done boys you all did a fantastic job and you should be as proud of yourselves as we are. Keep it up and see you at training!
Under 12’s
Our under 12’s played Wingham Tigers today after not having a game for three weeks. Our backs showed heaps of flair, throwing the ball about and making the most of their opportunities. Our forwards smashed their way through the opposition with some big hits leaving the Tigers stunned.
Tries went to Mackenzie Millar, Tory Latham, Scott Laurie, James Kennedy, Sam Yates and Harry Callinan. Our goal kicking needs to improve with two out of nine attempts.
Keep up the work Eagles.
Congratulations to Scott Laurie and James Kennedy also Jake Lawrence from under 15’s for their achievements this week.
Score Eagles 40, Tigers 0.
Shane and Chris.
Bonny Hills Beach Hotel Social Golf
It has been some time since the Bonny Hills mob have ventured on to a golf course, and the quality of the play indicated a considerable lack of practice.
The best individual score of the day was achieved by Tony Carroll and he only just played to his handicap.
The winners of the Stableford Multiplier were Tom (I’ve not been well lately) Scrine and Geoff (boom boom) Irvin. I believe that Geoff hit a huge drive to within 25 metres of the 3rd green, and then duffed his chip. They won on a count back from Carol and David Middlebrook – both teams scoring 34 points for the 13 holes.
Why were only 13 holes played? The course management could not communicate a simple change of plans and this does not encourage a regular group of customers to continue their patronage. This change of the number of holes caused organizers much concern – as if stableford scoring isn’t difficult enough as it is!
Carol Middlebrook had enough trouble counting her strokes, let alone working out her stableford points.
Other winners were: Carol Middlebrook – Ladies Longest Drive, Paul Wisemantel – Men’s Longest Drive, Dennis Boyce – NTP 2nd shot, Tom Scrine – Biggest Whinger and Roger Miles – avoided being evicted from Master Chef with a masterful barbecuing display for lunch.
Handicapper David hadn’t played for a while and this made his club choice difficult, so several times he carried two clubs up to hit his ball, inevitably leaving one of those clubs behind for his fellow players to collect.
The next event will be at Wauchope on July 19, beginning at 8.30am and will be a stroke event.

HILLS JUNIOR LEAGUE
Under 7’s
It was nice to see the boys run around on the week-end after so many wash-outs. And it was a very entertaining game with defence not strong from either side but there were plenty of tries, 12 between the teams. Player of the day went to Kyle Scarff who played his heart out making good runs and his tackling has improved out of sight. Other awards went to Blake Felton who had one of his best games of the season with strong runs and making some try saving tackles and kicked a nice goal, and Cooper Gallagher who made some good runs from dummy half and tried hard in defence. There were also strong games from Jaiden Rowe who played his normal tough no nonsense game of footy and topped it off with a try along with Ethan Swan and Ethan Wood with 3 tries who never let the team down. Kobi Chaplin and Jake Wells who kicked a goal also had good games trying their best.
A big thank you to Joe Black who put a try on and Aston Pollard who both showed no fear playing up from the Under 6’s.
See you all at training. Next week we are away at Old Bar.

Lake Cathie lost to Wingham 30 to 22,at home on Sunday. The team played extremely well and were much improved on other games. Special thanks to the boys who played up today-well done. Ryan Francis,Jack Williams and Layne Hughes were our try scorers this week with Jack Williams converting the tries. Andrew Thomas was awarded Player of the Match and Jack Williams was Runner Up-great effort boys. Go the Raiders!
U/9s
Another great game as Lake Cathie faced off against Wingham. Grant, Billy and Broden ran hard and fast weaving around the opposition. Hard tackling from Brandon, Tait and Sam (playing through his illness) supported with all round efforts by Jarrod R and Max. Great game guys, coming together as a team. Man of the Match went to Jarrod Rixon - well done Jarrod!

Another exciting game played by this great little team. Everyone is displaying excellent teamwork and playing so well it’s a pleasure to watch the improvements each week. We had two goal scorers. Maddi, our player of the week was an absolute champion, scoring three of our four goals and narrowly missed out on a couple more. Jacob scored a beautiful goal also Ely, our sportstar of the week, Joel, George and Dylan all had good contact with the ball and showed great teamwork. Keep uip the good work team. Special thanks to Glen for your help every week.

Camden Haven Karabel Homes U 7’s –v- Port United Emus
An excellent game at Port this week with only 5 players and all playing at their best to win 6-1. Again Liam had several attempts at goal and was strong in his attacking. Owen remembered to spread out and chased all over the field. Josh had a strong game considering he still wasn’t feeling well and never gave up to score a goal. Layton was confident in his attack and took the ball down the field to score. Matthew stayed back and defended well making some great saves and huge kicks sending the ball back down our end. A consistent game by all 5 boys with very strong attacking and great backing up defence even after a few good kicks in our legs from the Port side. An enjoyable game to watch. Hope Ben is back and feeling better next week. Congratulation to Matthew our star defender and Player of Week.
U/8 Camden Haven Panel Works
Wauchope Loggers travelled this weekend to meet us on home turf. With a full team on the field the score was close at times but after a super team effort we managed to come away with another win. Tom, Matilda and Jarrod were strong in defence. Mitch and Liam showed great ball skills and Ethan's ball control helped him score all 4 goals. Man of the Match went to Jye, well done. Next weekend's game kicks off at 10.00. We will be two short as Tom and Matilda enjoy their holiday.
U11 C H Ray White R/E V Wauchope Axemen July 1
It was a catch up game over at Wauchope under lights. In the 1st half the passing was great among the mids and forwards and the defence was there when needed. The pressure was kept on Wauchope as well, but less than a minute till half time Wauchope managed to score a goal. Straight back after the break Wauchope scored again and as the cold night air settled in the frustration was showing among the boys. We got a goal but Wauchope grabbed their 3rd as the support fell away among our team. The communication between our players didn’t improve and before we knew it the full time whistle blew. Unfortunately we had the 3-1 loss. Hopefully the boys can learn from their lessons on the night. Thanks also go to Corey for helping us out.
U/11 V Port Saints Leopards July 4
Within minutes the Leopards were down our end but we soon turned it around with even play between the two teams. A lot better team effort was put in and keeping your positions led to better play. Half time came and the score was still nil all. Later in the game the Leopards got their chance and made the most of it to score and came away with the 1-0 win.
U/13 Girls RHK Restaurant Kew v Wauchope
Wauchope turned up a couple of girls short at the start and we took full advantage banging in 2 quick goals by Hannah and Abbey however, Wauchope did threaten us on quite a few occasions second half Wauchope got all there troops on the field and somehow we dominated the match more than when they were short. Hannah made it 3 nil late in the match finishing neatly a one on one with the keeper. Sam Piper and Paige and Fiona played strongly at the back and Lauren showed improvement again. Next week early one at Tuffins, see you at training and keep having fun.

Fourteen starters on a chilly Sunday morning for a 2 man Ambrose. Mark and Bob combined well to take home the vouchers (I think the handicapper needs to have a look at these two). Myself and Tony should never team up, we make a hopeless pairing and will be in pink the next game. Ruddo cleaned up the balls in B grade while Dunny and Al Hall shared them in A grade. Don’t forget Bato’s Day August 2 and our AGM is the end of this month.

Under 8’s
We tackled Gloucester on our home ground and what a battle it turned out to be. Captain for the day Max got the scoring started with some smart dummy half play resulting in his first try for the year, well done Max. Our other try scorers were Charlie, Ike and Jack getting a double with Thomas and Charlie kicked a goal each. Our defence was up to the task with Brad smashing them, he was well supported by Ben the tackling machine, Thomas, Brayden, Jackson, Kaine and Davy playing through the pain never missed a beat.
The boys came away victor’s 24 points to 12. Off to Port next week to take on the Sharks so let’s keep up the effort.
