Last Wednesday on a beautiful but rather crisp morning 26 hopefuls contested a Single Stableford. The A Grade winner after a count-back was Laurie Hamilton with 28 points. Unlucky loser of the count-back and runner-up was Neville McCarthy. B Grade’s winner was decided after a four way count-back and went to Merv McLean with Rick Bower taking out runner-up both with 27 points. Nearest the pin on the 5th were Trevor Rose for A Grade and Col Huntley took the ball for B Grade. Nearest the pin on the 8th saw Kevin Nieass for A Grade and Jim Cunnington took the ball for B Grade. Best putting on the day was by Andy Aitken for A Grade with a miserly 20 putts and Brian Hudson with 21 putts took the ball for B Grade. Next week’s game will be a two man Ambrose and the starters will be Bob Nixon and Jim Fairbrother.
LUSC SOCIAL LAWN BOWLING CLUB.
Last Thursday afternoon with one of the greens out of action due to maintenance we still managed to attract 105 bowlers for a game at Kew. We had three visitors, Matthew Marendaz from North Haven, Keith Miller and Kevin Whitby from Kew, we hope you all enjoyed our company. As well it was great to see Ron Holmes and Gary Hilman back at bowls with us again. We wish all our members who are unable to bowl with us due to illness, the very best and we hope to see you all back at bowls with us in the near future.
The winning rink club vouchers were won by Max Tomsett, Les Townend, Trevor Leffler, Claude Honeyman, Adolf Wagner, Jim Blyde, Ron Cutler, and Lawrence (dusty) Rhodes, The runners-up rink club vouchers were won by Warren Newby, Rowdy Smith, Phil Gibbs, John Mitchell, Gerard Shashoua, Kevin Thomson, Harold Baldry and the Chickenman. The cash winners drawn from the weekly nomination sheet were the Bob Constable winning $20.00 (that’s the second week in a row Bob’s won the cash and it has been noted that he is yet to shout). The $10.00 draws were won by Reginald Boydell and Ron Newton with a further twenty four bowlers being lucky enough to win a bottle of wine each. The lucky winners of the delicious family pie vouchers from the Colonial Bakery were Ken McDonald and the Colonel. The three $25.00 Xmas club raffle winners were Lisle Crossing, Fred Paine and Bob Partlett.
That is all.

We had a very good turn out on Wednesday and the weather was perfect - typical spring weather although it isn’t even spring. We had a new lady Mary Ainsworth join us and is going to become a member - welcome. Mary also got off to a good start by winning the spider. The raffle was won by Joan Bean and as there were over 16 ladies playing we had a second raffle which went to Mary Court. Joan Turnbull came and watched us and hopes to play with us next week. As usual our thoughts are with any of you who are not feeling too well and hope to see you all again next week.

Another close game even though we didn't come away with a win it was great effort by all. Tackle, tackle, tackle boys that's what we need to do. It was a full weekend of footy for the under 6's last weekend with weather on both days being kind to us.
On Saturday we played at Lake Cathie in an early kickoff, was a good game with 3 tries to Camden Haven but not enough with Lake Cathie scoring 6. Tries were Blake with 2 & Ethan 1. Player of the match went to Zara.
Sunday morning was a little different in Port against the Breakers. The team has really changed from most playing their 1st game of footy at the start of the comp to working as a team and passing and helping each other out.
Was a spectacular finish winning 9-2. Tries were Ethan sprinting in with 4, Blake also adding to the tally with 3, Cooper adding 1, & Trey also adding 1 for his debut try for the season. We hope to see you all on the weekend for our last lot of games for the season.

U16 Girls v Port Saints
Very pleasant night for football. Not so pleasant the result going down gallantly 3 - 1. Reduced to 9 players for a period of the game the girls fought on bravely, 2 nil down at the break. Vicky pegged one back to silence the vocal Saints supporters. Halema Fiona & Abbey were working overtime at the back. Abbey’s frustration resulted in Saints 3rd, a dottie when she brought down their striker in a crunching 50/50. Laura was dealt the same tackle that unfortunately went unpunished. Thanks Sarah for coming back in to keep goals, very brave.
Two games left. Girls we may need to win one to sneak into the Semis. Any U14 girls willing to help out please call Nev 65596324.
