Johns River local and author, Kerri Williams, certainly does, and her happy ending is an exciting new beginning as she prepares to launch her debut novel - ‘Taking Back His Widow’, to be followed in October by her second novel ‘Nudging Cupid’.
Fed up with all the bad news (the GFC, murder, extortion, tragedy) Kerri set about making some good news.
‘’Did you know that during the global financial crisis, the romance genre was the only one to actually increase its sales of books, Kerri told us.
“When times are bad, stories with happy endings make the perfect escape.’’
Romance fiction is estimated to generate $A1.31 billion in sales each year and a 2008 survey showed that 74.8 million people around the world read at least one romance novel in that year. Now readers who enjoy a little romance, suspense and a happy ending can escape into Kerri’s world - a world inspired by a hometown nestled between majestic mountains and sparkling seashores.
Writing on and off since she was sixteen, when Kerri met and later married the love of her life, she also has two beautiful daughters who have supported her publication dream. Kerri joins a growing number of mid-north NSW authors putting our own piece of paradise on the map.
‘Taking Back His Widow’ is officially launched globally this week. Locals can meet Kerri, who will be signing books and chatting about her writing experiences, Saturday 24th September, 10.00 am at the Laurieton Library.
