The annual toy run in support of the Salvation Army thundered out of Laurieton on Saturday morning bound for Port Macquarie via Wauchope. Run co-ordinator Chris Murphy said the response this year was absolutely amazing estimating up to 300 bikes took part and possibly 450 riders and pillions involved. Most locals agreed it was the biggest event they had witnessed roar through Bold Street Laurieton to the waves and cheers of delighted onlookers.
Chris said the atmosphere throughout the ride was awesome and the reception along the way was incredibly inspiring. Hundreds of toys and monetary donations were presented to the Salvation Army co-ordinators in Port Macquarie at the conclusion of the ride. More details will be available in next week’s Courier.
