This weeks game against the Breakers was lead by our Captain Michael who took us off to a great start with a try from the kick off. Izac made a huge run narrowly missing a try. Tallin our littlest Raider took it upon himself to tackle the biggest kid on the field. Hudson tackled like Frank Pritchard, Logan tackled anything that came his way. Sam's hard and straight runs gave him four tries, Johan stepped around taking away two tries. Congratulations to our man of the match Drew scoring two tries from a couple of massive runs down the side. Our supporters award this week went to Declan who also got a try and tackled his heart out all game. Well done boys your defence and team work was excellent.

Eliza & Chloe jumped on every ball that came their way, while Taylee & Ashleigh’s consistency is coming back. Good job girls.

Seventeen players were present last Sunday and they participated in an individual Match Play event over 15 holes at Wauchope Golf Course. The course was in outstanding condition.
The results on the day were: Baz Wannell smashed Stan Neall to the tune of 7 up with 6 holes to play. This was a huge turnaround to when they played 3 weeks ago. His playing group were a little bewildered by Baz’s descriptions. Baz said that his partners’ ball was “over there just in front of the tree with branches coming out half way up the trunk.” What the? Baz also told the story of an arrogant OS player who claimed that he “only ever played in the seventies. If it gets any hotter, he goes to the bar for a drink.”
Eric Wade and Craig Jennings had an epic battle where Eric was 5 up at one stage, but with 2 to play, Craig had fought back to 1 down. They squared the last two holes to leave Eric 1 up. The big moment for Eric was his tee shot at the par 3 7th hole. He ended very close to the hole and then putted the very short putt for a birdie and this also gave him the NTP (2nd shot) prize for the day.
Roley Whitehead defeated Dennis Boyce to the tune of 4 and 2. After 5 holes, Dennis was 2 up but it was all downhill from there. Ken Norberry took full toll of Jenny Jackson’s poor play on the fairway and green and her lack of confidence at the moment. Ken won 5 and 3. He was very pleased with his par 4 on the 12th. I believe that jenny showed her “disappointment” with her play by slamming her club into the ground at one time.
Eric Broadbent showed much improved form to run out a big winner over Stan Muller (8 and 7). Alan Jackson and David Middlebrook had a ding dong battle and at the end of 15 holes, they could not be separated. Alan was always excellent off the tee, but he had trouble on the slick greens. Alan and David played on until they found a winner on the 18th. Alan generously bought David a beer back at headquarters. David illegally propped the wire fence up while he played his shot on the 12th, but then got his just desserts when he left his club there and had to run half way across the course to recover it.
Tony Carroll played Brett Smith and thought he had the first hole won, until Brett putted from well off the green. Brett was 1 up after 3 holes, but Tony showed that incredible consistency and gradually drew away to record a 5 and 3 win.
The final group was a threesome which included Paul Dickson, Mick Kennedy and Wendy Middlebrook. The organiser apologises profusely in leaving Mick out of the draw and for not organising a card for Wendy and Paul. Paul and Mick had the best scores in this group. Paul had a great 79 off the stick and also won the Men’s longest drive.
The winner of the day saw all the winners placed in a hat and the winner drawn out was Eric Broadbent. Baz Wannell was the runner up. Other winners were: NTP(4th) = Alan Jackson, LLD(14th) = Jenny Jackson, Ladies NTP 2nd shot(7th) = Jenny Jackson.
The next event is on June 17 at Emerald Downs, beginning at 8.30am. This will be an individual Stableford. We’ll be at Emerald Downs the following Sunday as well.

SOCIAL GOLF
Another chilly Sunday saw nine starters, including Matt who hasn't been out for a while, for a stableford event. It took a while for the hands to warm up and we saw some wayward drives early. Josh setled down nicely and reeled off some good pars. Matt meanwhile was doing a lot of walking. Phil was playing some good golf after his holiday and Mark was pretty consistent. The rest of us had an enjoyable walk!. Matt's tee shot on the 18th was unusual, to say the least, with the ball finishing 20metres behind the tee. There was no NTP's in A Grade and no longdrive. In B Grade NTP on the 9th to Matt, 10th to me. Longdrive to Mark and he also took out the Ladies Hole. No one got 2nd shot.(saved on balls this week). Winner on the day was Josh with 31pts. Bringing up the rear was Matt. It is our turn to do the raffles on Friday so if you can help out let me know please. See ya Sunday. Headdown.
