Local residents are being encouraged to make a submission into a review of bus services provided in the Hastings and Camden Haven areas by Busways.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said she has had a number of meetings with Busways executives as well as with the Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian urging for a review to be undertaken.
“ Pleasingly this is now happening with Busways confirming they will undertake widespread community consultation as required in the bus operator’s contract.
“I have received a number of complaints about bus service timetables, school bus service levels and bus routes during the past year so this is a great opportunity for local residents to voice any concerns they may have with all aspects of local bus services.
“From Monday (4th June) every local household will receive a detailed brochure outlining Busways proposed bus network, details on why the network is being reviewed and how people can have input into the consultation process,” Mrs Williams said.
“The service levels are the minimum levels that Busways is proposing, if analysis or demand demonstrates that Busways need additional services, I am advised they will implement them.
“Now that we have the opportunity to have our say, it is important that people make a submission to the review, either by post, the internet or by sending it to my office and I will forward it to Busways,” Mrs Williams said.
Busways will also be holding information days at Laurieton outside Coles on Tuesday 12th June, Wauchope outside The Department Store Wednesday 13th June, Lighthouse Beach Plaza Thursday 14th June and Settlement City Shopping Centre in Port Macquarie on Friday 15th June, between 9am and 5.30pm.
Submissions for consideration must be lodged by 29th June.
