POLICE arrested two men last Thursday after finding firearms and cannabis in their car.
At 11am on Thursday Laurieton police were actively patrolling the Kendall area after receiving a number of complaints about a white motorcycle being ridden dangerously on public roads. Police sighted a vehicle containing the suspect responsible for the motorcycle incidents.
Police stopped the car on Kendall Road at Kew. The two occupants and the vehicle were searched.
Three firearms and over 500g of cannabis were found along with a large quantity of ammunition. One of the firearms had been sawn off and investigations revealed the gun had been stolen from a Telegraph Point property recently.
A 20-year-old Johns River man and a 19-year-old Kew man were arrested.
Both face numerous firearm and drug charges. The 20-year-old also faces charges of dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime, custody of a knife in a public place and several traffic matters.
Bail was refused in Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday June 7.
Both appeared in court again on Friday. The Johns River man was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court on July 23.
The Kew man was released on conditional bail to reappear in court on the same date.
