THE Camden Haven is in line for a boost in health services.
It comes after an analysis into after-hours GP services identified the Camden Haven as one of nine target areas.
North Coast Medicare Local chief executive officer Vahid Saberi said a regional steering group would be established.
He said the solution would be designed to specifically suit the area.
“It will be the conversation we have locally that will determine what shape the service in the Camden Haven will take,” Mr Saberi said.
“Our approach will be open-minded to try something new.”
The newly established North Coast Medicare Local was launched in Port Macquarie last week.
Almost 20 people from across the health sector attended the roundtable meeting.
Mr Saberi said health reform in Australia was at an exciting juncture.
The North Coast Medicare Local has a mandate to improve the health of the community.
“For a long time we’ve been very proud of having the best heart surgery, for example, but really the more important thing is being proud of doing our best to reduce the need for heart surgery,” he said.
The creation of Medicare Locals was a major plank of the national health reform.
