$300,000 allocated for breakwall repairs

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services Andrew Stoner said $300,000 was allocated in the State Budget for repairs to the Camden Haven North Breakwall this year.

“The Camden Haven North Breakwall requires major maintenance to repair damage caused by exposure to large waves and storms over the years,” Mr Stoner said.

“Tenders for the construction have been called and works will commence soon, taking about three months to complete.

“The works will ensure that the breakwall continues to carry out its primary function of aiding navigation between the river and the ocean.

“It will also enhance the safety of the public using the breakwall, although people should still exercise caution as waves will overtop the wall from time to time.

“The project is critical to the coastal infrastructure which is a valuable contributor to the economic viability of the region.”

Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams welcomed the news that works on the Camden North Breakwater will get underway this year.

“Late last year I inspected the breakwall at various locations and was concerned with its condition.

“It is vitally important that it is repaired and then well maintained. The breakwall is important to the Camden Haven community.”

“It is great to see the NSW Government funding this important upgrade to our breakwall,” Mrs Williams said.
