At 1.15am Saturday June 9 a 43 year old male was assaulted whilst asking a number of people to leave a party in Wandoo Place Bonny Hills. The male was punched in the face and kicked. A number of other guests at the party were also assaulted by the same offender who left in a vehicle prior to police arrival. A 19 year old Port Macquarie man was arrested and charged for breach of bail and a number of assaults. Bail was refused. Enquiries are continuing. Police anticipate further charges will be laid.
At 7.30pm Saturday June 9 police stopped a white Commodore vehicle observed moving south on Ocean Drive with no tail lights. Police ascertained the 18 year old male driver from Kendall was driving while suspended. Police issued a future court attendance notice to appear in Wauchope Court in July.
Between 1.30pm June 3 and 8am June 12 unknown persons broke into a property in Chepana Street Lake Cathie. Inside a laptop, ipad and various items were stolen. Scientific examinations are continuing.
Between 11pm and 11.40pm June 12 the window of a green Toyota Landcruiser parked in Camden Head Road, Camden Head was smashed. A handbag was stolen from the front seat of the vehicle. Police would like to remind people not to leave valuables in vehicles, particularly items visible through car windows.
Police report an increase in the theft of garbage bins. They suggest residents not leave bins out in the street any longer than necessary and report details of anyone seen taking bins from the side of the road.
Between 3pm June 16 and 7.15am June 17 the canteen at Laurieton Oval was broken into and canteen supplies were stolen. Information later received identified four young people responsible for the break and enter. A 14 year old Laurieton male admitted breaking in. A 14 year old Dunbogan male also admitted to the offence when interviewed. Enquiries are continuing.
At 3.40pm June 26 a Suzuki Swift collided with the rear of a Busways school bus on Kendall Road at the intersection of Old Bridge Road. The bus driver slowed to avoid a dog at which time the car collided heavily with the rear of the bus. No persons were injured. The driver of the vehicle was issued with a negligent driving infringement.
At 5.25pm June 21 a Nissan Navara driven by a Lake Cathie man travelling north on Ocean Drive near the intersection of Houston Mitchell Drive collided with a large kangaroo. The driver was uninjured however the vehicle sustained significant damage. Police attended and had to euthenase the animal due to its injuries.
