Can you believe it, last week’s game washed out for the third time during June. Next week July 11th will be a single stroke event and the starters will be Ian Johnston and Col Huntley.
Since the last report, the boys have had a loss to Port Sharks, Win over Port Panthers and most recently they took on the competition leader’s, Forster.
With the cold and flu season on us, and a few injuries, you were able to field a side of 14. Didn’t take long and it was 13 on 19, but to your credit you never let that bother you. The hard work at training, - when you can, (with the wet weather not being kind to all teams in the Camden Haven) is paying off. Your team commitment was great, with players pushing themselves all the way to the final whistle. Talking of whistles, 3 unlucky penalties in the last 4 minutes made the difference. Be very proud of yourselves boys, the defence was bruising right across the paddock and your attack looks a lot more structured. Very unlucky boys, well played. Final score Foster 16, Eagles 14. Sideline
With the wet weather lately the boys were more than eager to stretch their legs out and to have a good game of footy.
The Port Macquarie Breakers and Camden Haven Eagles have always been well matched, and last Saturday at Wauchope proved how close they are.
The tackle count was won once again by a very hard working Rhys Hanlon with 18 tackles completed, followed by Blake Steep with 12 and Ethan Crossfield with 8, Blake and Ethan were very impressive considering they are playing up an age group, and they have proved they are not scared to take on the bigger kids. Levi Berry also proved valuable in defence with 7 tackles completed, Jaspa Calicetto completed 6 tackles.
Izach Dennis guided the boys well around the park, he is initiating some great game plays from his position of half back.
The hit-ups this week was shared very evenly with Daniel O’Brien, Bryce Cook, and Rhys Hanlon all completing 7 hit-ups, closely followed by Jaspa Calicetto with 6, Harry Twomey, Aaron Coulter, Jake Paterson and Izach Dennis all completing 4 hit-ups. Harry Twomey and Daniel O’Brien's footwork bedazzled the opposition and they were extremely difficult to pull down once in full flight.
Bryce Cook, Ethan Crossfield and Rhys Hanlon managed to put the ball down over the line and scored some very impressive tries with Rhys Hanlon managing a conversion between the posts. Levi Berry and Aaron Coulter were very unlucky not to be awarded a try each, both boys were held up by some great defence from the boys of the breakers. Levi Berry and Aaron Coulter both had a great game.
Final score was 3 tries each with the Breakers managing 2 conversions compared to the Eagles 1 which put them just in front.
What an exceptional game of footy, both teams appeared to have a great day of football.
This Saturday it was a second game against the Port Sharks White played at Wauchope. While the Port Sharks White came out on top - their 6 tries and 4 goals to our 5 tries and 4 goals - it is worth remembering that it was this team that soundly beat the Eagles early in the season. This time it was only a narrow victory for the Port Sharks White.
Eagles tries went to Hayden and Patrick 2, Dane 1. Goals were kicked by Patrick 2, Hayden and Dane 1 each. Hayden topped the tackle count with 12, Patrick 11, Connor 6, Tim 5, Zane 4, Moses 3, James 2, Ethan, Jason, Riley, Jackson and Dane 1. Again, 8 team tackles were undertaken by 3 or more players. Hayden and Dane topped the run count with 11 each, Pat came next with 9, Moses 8, Zane 5, James and Riley 4, Connor and Tim 3, Jackson and Ethan 2, Dylan 1.
A few highlights included Riley and Dane leaping on loose balls and then making great runs. Jason had a big run from deep in the Eagles half to gain good ground position. Hayden was able to flick a ball to Tim who was supporting out wide and Tim was able to dash up the field to take a smashing tackle which saw him head for the sideline injured. Pat copped a thump in the head after succesfully getting over the try line. Moses and Zane continue to plough straight up the field taking multiple defenders with them.
We Eagles still need to sort out the play the ball area. Bunching up around the first receiver is making it very hard to get the ball wide - because the ball has to be thrown through, around, up and over the 5 players encircling the first receiver. Despite this, the team is making improvements in their play, and defence remains strong. Imagine the results to come your way when you spread out! Enjoy your hols boys, and we'll look forward to seeing you train & play again soon.
Last Thursday almost 88 bowlers turned up for a game at Kew but unfortunately the heavens opened up at mid-day and washed the afternoon out. We were able to run the raffle and the three $25.00 Xmas club raffle winners were Mike Carney, Terry Collins and Kidley Downey, well at least someone got a win. Bowlers don’t forget after a washout you will have to renominate on the sheet or ring the bowls organiser if you want a game this Thursday. Our Annual General Meeting will be held at 2pm on Monday 23rd July, 2012 at the LUSC. The nomination forms for all committee positions are displayed on the bowlers Notice Board at the club and all nominations will close on the 9th July, 2012. That is All.

Well done under 7's, this weeks game was lead by our captain Johan, what a tough game against the Sharks but you all played awesome. Hudson and Sam both got a double, Michael and Johan with a try each. Logan, Drew, Declan, Mikey and Tallin all tackled their heart out. This weeks supporters award went to Michael for his hard straight running making valuable ground every time. This weeks man of the match was Izac, for his consistent performance and effort each and every week. Have a good break boys.
Sunday was a fine day for a change, however the course was a wet soggy mess. We had 9 starters ready to brave the conditions. It was a stroke event, with putting. Good to see Simon out for a hit and Dairy has promised to turn up a bit more regularly, albeit late!. Mick was being watched carefully, now he is a B Grader? The championships are going to be interesting this year with about 70% of our regular players now in B Grade. It was hard going all morning and the results showed with only two players, Josh and Andy going under handicap, just about everyone else(including Mick) getting shots back for next week. In A Grade the only ball went to Simon for longdrive. In B Grade balls to Riddo for NTP on the 10th and Andy for longdrive. Andy also picked up the Ladies Hole and there was no second shot. As you can see a pretty average round. Winner on countback was Josh from Andy, Josh also won the putting. Bringing up the rear was Riddo. Remember our trip to Harrington is on the 29th July and it is our turn for the raffles on Friday 13th July. I have also been advised that Green Fees go up by $1 from this Sunday. See ya then.

The weather for our last outing for 2011 - 2012 started out very cold and the fish didn’t want to co-operate with the anglers. For a change, most found it hard going. The winner of the Sub Juniors was Jye Rousell; Ladies Winner was Glenda Barr; Mens Section was won by Allan Sandersan; Vet Ladies by Margaret Sandersan and Vet Mens winner was Barry Sandersan. The Sub Juniors had fun at this outing as it was open species for their nominated species and the winner of this was our newest member, Riley Wallis with his 515g bream. Other species caught by members over the weekend were flathead, tailor and luderick. Our July outing on 6th, 7th & 8th will be the start of our 2012 - 2013 competition, so everyone is on level points till then, also membership is due. Adults (over 18yrs) $15.00 Sub Juniors and Juniors $2.00. Sub Juniors are under 12yrs at 1st July and Juniors 12yrs to 18yrs at 1st July. New members are most welcome. We will allow you to fish and join up at the weigh in at the club at 2pm Sunday 8th. Nominated species for the Sub Juniors this month is flathead.
