A $123,000 lighting upgrade for Vince Inmon Sporting Complex was officially opened last Wednesday.
The flood lighting for the fields in Laurieton means it now meets Australian standards for football matches.
Funding was provided by the Federal Government ($28,500) through the Regional and Local Community and Infrastructure Program.
“Council contributed $60,000 to this lighting upgrade but the assistance of the State and Federal governments, as well as the Camden Haven Sports Management Committee was essential in delivering the overall outcome,” Port Macquarie Hastings Council administrator Neil Porter said
The State Government funding was provided through a grant of $27,000 to the Camden Haven Soccer Club from the NSW Department of Communities. The Camden Haven Sports Management Committee contributed $7,500 to the upgrade.
Bruce Squires from the Camden Haven Soccer Club said lighting means the club can expand, perhaps into an evening summer competition. This expansion would also be possible for other sports.
Member for Lyne Rob Oakeshott said the contribution from all levels of government will benefit the communities who use the sports fields.
“Well done to all. This will increase the amount of use the grounds get by 25 per cent,” Mr Oakeshott said.
