The Hastings District Flying Club is conducting its annual Open Day and there is plenty to see.
The club is proud of its 55 year history and is keen to show off its facilities. Numerous static displays depicting club activities and history will be housed in the clubhouse while information concerning the Recreational Aviation Flying School will be found in the hangar.
A wide variety of aircraft will be on static display ranging from the motorised hang glider to the L39 Albatross jet. Others will include factory and homebuilt aircraft as well as the historic De Havilland Chipmunk. Awaiting the arrival of its new Flight Design CTLS aircraft from Germany the club will still have its Foxbat aircraft available for Trial Flights.
Aircraft of a smaller scale will also be present with the Hastings Radio Modellers displaying several radio controlled model aircraft.
The car enthusiast is not forgotten as the Hastings Auto Restorers will display their vehicles throughout the Flying Club grounds.
Food and drink will be on sale. Avoid parking in the Terminal carpark by using the grassed area to the north of Oliver Drive as you enter the airport precinct. Further information about the Hastings District Flying Club can be obtained from their website www.hdfc.com.au
