The new mailbox has delighted local residents, particularly those from Blackbutt Road, Old School Road and Old Mill Road, who stop to collect their Camden Haven Courier newspaper from it each week.
According to 21 year old Joshua, the papers used to get wet, so he thought he would do something about the problem.
"I had the time and talent to build it," he explained, in his quiet, matter-of-fact manner.
This is not the first mailbox project for the self-employed "jack of a number of trades". He previously built a similar one for his own property, using his welding, woodwork and metalwork skills.
Herons Creek Chapel pastor Martin Parish and Jeanette Alderson are impressed by Joshua and his community focus.
"He is a man full of faith and one who rolls up his sleeves to assist with community projects," Martin said.
Joshua said he enjoys the support and fellowship within the church community and described the mailbox as "a bit of a present for them".
The team at the Camden Haven Courier are pretty cuffed with it too and thank Josh for caring for the community and the newspaper.
The chapel itself has a long and interesting history. It is the only building in Herons Creek that is heritage listed and has played a significant role in the township's history.
84 years after it first opened, the historic church was re-opened in November 2011 and is now used as a church, as well as a community hall, place for community gatherings, support groups, public meetings and other activities.
