The men phoned the Camden Haven Courier for advice on which authority to contact to assist the sea lion, who appeared to be unwell.
They shared photos and video a short time ago. In one video the sea lion is feeding on a fresh tailor caught by the men.
"Heath Milne and I were fishing for tailor off Camden Head approximately 300m north of Dunbogan beach," Brandon said.
"At 11.45am we moved spots further around the headland and Heath spotted the sea lion about 20m ahead of us.
"The animal was lethargic and we noticed a small pool of blood on the rocks on its right hand side.
"It didn't seem aggressive but grunted and gaped its mouth on more than one occasion. Very unique sound similar to that of a car.
"We are waiting for an employee of ORRCA to meet us at Tuckeroo car park so we can lead them to the sea lion.
ORRCA (Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia) advised Brandon and Heath to keep a safe distance and try not to agitate the animal but keep and eye on it to try and identify if it has a significant injury.
Updates as they come to hand.
