Motorists are being warned to take it easy on the roads around the New England region as snow flurries are reported.
The RMS has already advised of snow and ice on the New England Highway between Glen Innes and Armidale on Friday morning.
Waterfall Way is affected by snow and ice at Ebor, however the road remains open.
Locals have also reported snow falls around Guyra, west of Armidale, around Hanging Rock, Black Mountain and near Walcha.
New England police Acting Inspector Stuart Gray said motorists should be extra careful on the roads today and into the weekend.
"Plan ahead, take more time and leave plenty of gap between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you," he told The Leader. "Black ice is not common and it's something motorists can't see but it is very dangerous."
Fortunately, New England police said there had been no reports of accidents throughout the morning but drivers should not become complacent.
"Just because the sun is out it doesn't mean it will melt the ice," Acting Inspector Gray said. "The Pinch is a high risk area around Guyra that is very subjective to ice and snow.
"Motorists should slow down and take extra care and plan their journeys."
Acting Inspector Gray said locals should also pay attention to weather forecasts and any road reports or diversions which are put in place because of dangerous conditions.
