Comboyne racks up cricket score against Hurricanes

THE Comboyne Tigers showed no mercy to competition newcomers the Harrington Hurricanes on the weekend.

The game was played at the Kendall Showground where the Tigers notched up a cricket score, ending the game 100-12.

Coach of the Tigers, Troy Bell, said it was a dominant display from his side and close to every player in the team crossed for a four pointer.

But he was also full of praise for the opposition who he said he fully admired.

"You've got to give it to them, they kept hanging in there wanting to play," he said.

"They didn't want to end the game early.

"And one of the tries they scored was actually a really good try.

"If they stick at it they have the right attitude they'll be much better for it next year."

Bell said while it may have been a field day against the Hurricanes the next few weeks would hold the key for his side as they make a run to the finals.

"We play every team in the top six from here on in," he said.

"It's going to be tough but at least five of those will be home games for us."

Top scorer for the side was Dennis Jones who kicked 14 goals and scored a try to finish with 32 points for the game.
