Grants of up to $3000 are available to owners and managers of heritage items and up to $2000 to owners of contributory buildings in conservation areas.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's acting director of community and organisational development, Jaclyne Fisher, said the local government area was home to numerous items of heritage significance.
She said the heritage assistance fund was designed to support owners and managers of those heritage items with on-going conservation and maintenance.
"These buildings are important for a range of different reasons and as a council we have an important role to play in terms of their preservation.
"The local heritage assistance fund proves the council with the opportunity to partner with owners and managers to maintain a very important link with our past.
The funding is available on a ratio of 1:2, meaning that for every $1 the council contributes, the owner or manager will need to contribute $2. Applications close on September 12. It is essential that applicants discuss their proposed projects with Shona Russell at the council on 6581 8111.
