With the rain pouring down, and some key players out injured, the Redbacks knew they'd have to dig deep if they were to come away with the win, and dig deep they did.
From the first whistle, the Redbacks pressured the opposition, taking countless shots, and maintaining control, but some great goal keeping and defence from the opposition, meant the goals just wouldn't come.
The Redbacks persisted though, with a number of opportunities being created by forward Louisa Bailey, and midfielders Paris Gibson, Kailey Boyan, Wade Bellamy and Renae Slade. Finally, it was a free kick taken by Slade which broke the deadlock, and see the Redbacks take the lead 1-0 into the break.
Following some motivating antics at half time, the Redbacks returned even more fired up than ever. Forward Joanne Jones was fearless upfront, and was unlucky not to score on a number of occasions, whilst Sherena Buttsworth continuously threatened the defence.
However much like the first half, it was Slade who again found the back of the net, scoring not one, but two beautifully placed goals from outside the box, capping off a nice hat trick and taking the final score to 3-0.
The win sees the Redbacks through to the next round of finals, where they'll take on Kempsey Saints at a venue yet to be confirmed. Best of luck again - Go You Reds!
