PORT United's Premier League first grade side missed out on the chance to have two bites at making the grand final when they were defeated 1-0 by Macleay Valley Rangers on Saturday.

United's Ladies team fared better however, with a 2-1 win over Wauchope which means they will now host the grand final this weekend.
In a match of missed opportunities, United failed to capitalise on a strong first half showing against Rangers in first grade.
Matt Broderick, Liam Clarke and Simon Granfield all went close to scoring, whilst other chances went begging to leave the sides locked at 0-0 at half time.
Despite strong periods of play in the second half, United couldn't find the break through.
Then with 10 minutes left in the match Rangers had the chance to make them pay.
A penalty conceded by United defender Lucas Heagney resulted in a spot kick.
A brilliant save from United keeper Luke Jennings presented his side with a huge get out of jail free card.
Barely a minute later, a sloppy free kick was conceded and coupled with poor marking, Rangers took the lead with a headed goal.
United pushed hard for the levelling goal and nearly found it when Brad Spokes flicked on a free kick in the closing moments.
Unfortunately it went straight at Rangers keeper Shaun Glover who once again had a strong match against the Port side.
First grade will now take on the Camden Haven Redbacks on Saturday with kick off at 5pm at Dixie Park.
The loser will be out whilst the winner will travel to the loser of Wallis Lake and Rangers for a place in the grand final.
United's reserves who finished minor premiers will now play Wallis Lake for a place in the grand final.
The match on Saturday in Forster will kick off at 12.30pm at Boronia Park.
United's Ladies started well at Fairmont Gardens against Wauchope.
They were rewarded when Leah Wilson found space and placed the ball past the Wauchope keeper to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Wilson then doubled the lead 12 minutes later.
The United striker beat a defender and the keeper to the ball and despite being forced wide, found a nice finish to make it 2-0.
The second half resulted in limited chances for both sides.
Wauchope pulled a goal back in the dying moments of the match, but United took the win, and a well deserved title decider spot.
In Northern League, the grand finals follow the Ladies competition this season and as a result United will host them at Dixie Park.
United's Ladies will take on Macleay Valley Rangers at 12.45pm.
In the men's title decider Macleay Valley Rangers will play Upper Macleay Yowies at 2.45pm before United's first grade encounter with the Redbacks.
