The project has been estimated to cost just over $31,000 and the proposal formed part of the Swimwell tender for management and operation of Laurieton swimming pool.
No timeframe has been given as to any work being undertaken as it is completely subject to approval.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's manager of recreation and buildings, Liam Bulley, said a similar facility in Port Macquarie was highly used.
"Such a facility would allow for expanded learn to swim and other programs," he said.
"It will also present an opportunity for programs to be run outside the existing swimming season at Laurieton pool."
Swimwell will have control of the project and, pending approval, will be required to comply with the council's requirements outlined in development approval consent conditions.
After a story was printed in last week's Camden Haven Courier, dozens of people were waiting at the council's Laurieton offices to look at the development plan and have their chance to comment.
The facility would be 14.5 metres in length, nine metres in width and 4.5 metres high and located three metres inside the Laurieton pool boundary fence, toward the southern end of the block.
An above ground pool would be enclosed by timber decking.
One of the issues raised was the lack of disabled access as only stairs were shown on the plan.
Mr Bulley, however, said that under the Building Code of Australia, swimming pools with a perimeter of less than 40 metres did not need to be accessible to disabled people.
"The council staff will ensure compliance is achieved with all relevant components of the code as part of the construction certificate process."
