Tanya Newman from Bennetts Steel in Wauchope and I held our Bago Long Lunch event on Sunday to raise funds for the NSW Cancer Council. We are part of the Hastings Celebrity Dance for Cancer and each need to raise $3000 ahead of the "dance off" at Rydges on November 28.
Sunday's Long Lunch was well supported and certainly boosted our fundraising goal (final figure to be calculated).
Our humble thanks go to local sponsors including our businesses Bennetts Steel and the Camden Haven Courier, as well as Bago Vineyard, Black Duck Brewery, Movement Studios, Wauchope and Port Macquarie Performing Arts, Peak Coffee, Jump n Fun jumping castles, Coastal Suns band, Ricardoes Tomatoes and Howards Storage World.
Several individuals pitched in behind the scenes and added muscle on the day to set up and pack away. We were blown away by the support.
Two participants took it upon themselves (Kate Owen and Ben Burley) to raise an extra $500 from the crowd to bribe my dancing partner Jo Rowan and I to give a sneak peak of the routine to be danced at the main event. If you were there at Bago and saw me attempting to shake my groove thing, I apologise. However I am ever so grateful for the support and the extra cash for the Cancer Council.
Further fundraising is planned at the Kew Country Club today - the Mid Coast Gaming Golf Classic.
