In Kendall a biggest morning tea was held in early May by the Kendall Kettles Craft Group at the Kendall Services Club.
The members and friends of the Kendall Kettles craft group put on a great morning tea and we were entertained by some of the children from Kendall Primary School.
The visitors enjoyed the senior girls’ African drumming group and solo performances from Jasmine, Charlie and Cooper. We enjoyed their wonderful music and it was lovely to have young people amongst us.
There were raffles with some of the prizes donated by Miss Nellie’s Café, The Kew Corner store, Streamline Hairdressing and the Kendall club, who supported us magnificently.
The event raised $1160.00. Thank you very much to all the members of the community who came along. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Concrete investment
When Ocean Drive was formed the population of Laurieton and surrounding areas was quite small. Today it’s going through a population boom.
Subdivisions are springing up all over the place and with the finish of North Haven Bridge, more heavy traffic will use this road along the coast line. The road is becoming a disgrace.
Ocean Drive opposite Woolworths is a goat track it’s so rough, but it’s the way most tar roads go when subjected to so much traffic and will only deteriorate more over time.
I do realise there is a great deal of difference in the cost of laying concrete roads compared to tar, but surely the money saved by councils in spending countless man hours carrying out repairs is enough over the years to pay for the cost difference? Laying tar is ok on back roads but where heavy vehicles drive, it’s useless.
Throughout our country, where main roads have been built on bitumen you will find road gangs working. Some time ago I visited America.
We drove from Nevada through Death Valley to Las Vegas. This road was all concrete. Never saw a road gang in the total distance.

Bright lights
Many residents would now be aware a new business has opened its doors at North Haven on Ocean Drive. Apparently the food is delicious but the use of a questionable flashing neon sign is dividing the local community.
I know of some people who refuse to eat there purely because of the sign.
Although the council has confirmed the sign does not contravene any regulations I firmly believe it will, however, need to address the growing trend that sees the occasional lonely interstate truckie slowing down on first approaching the sign and then roaring off seconds later in frustration after realising it’s only a restaurant and not the police.

Marginal love
Have you noticed the prime minister in Laurieton handing out millions of dollars? No? That can all change three years from now. Do the right thing by your community this election. Make Lyne a marginal electorate. It's easy, don't vote for the National Party.
