To Steve Bryson, you are a genius mate; to take in and comment on what is happening at Bartletts beach and reserve by having one conversation with one paraglider. Did you ever think of becoming a councillor?
To Howard Kay; to say that reports to the council from concerned residents is frivolous shows me once again the cold-blooded attitude towards us locals.
One report sent to the council was of a paraglider who crashed on the beach missing a six-week-old baby by 20cm. The six adults on the scene all signed this report.
The star picket you speak of is my walking staff, made of cane, doesn’t sound anywhere near as threatening does it?
When I contacted CASA I was told the only thing that concerns them is that the kites you people fly meet the standards they request. These people did not even know Bartletts reserve even existed.
One assault, you say. There has been two and two very close calls. One of which was broken up by me.
Howard, I have nothing against your sport in the right situation such as North Brother, Grants Head – wonderful. But when you endanger women and babies and children on the environment in my home space, I’ll see you on the reserve or the beach.
Your sport is classified as high impact, with high risk. Public Reserves and beaches are no place for sports such as this.
The council has no right to allow it, that is why the paragliders have never been given permission to fly off this reserve by the council.
