Coach Rod Rose was impressed with the performance of his side despite the 2-0 scoreline.
He would have felt they were unlucky after conceding a goal from a scissor-kick and another from a free-kick.
“The goal they scored from a corner came after a scissor kick which you would only score once every 10 years, but gee it was a good goal,” Rose said.
Rose felt it was an opportunity missed, but it wasn’t from a lack of trying.
“We’ve had the same team for the last four or five years and now most of them are moving on,” he said.
“It might be another four or five years before we get this far.”
Camden Haven High had their chances with one in particular sticking out.
A dangerous cross was whipped in across the mouth of goal and only needed a foot to tap it into an open net, but the ball evaded everyone.
Rose said there wasn’t a bad performer in the side, but singled out Toby Otto, Logan Shaw and Riley Pappas as standout performers.
“Lachlan Shaw is one of our stars up front, but we didn’t give him enough opportunities to show what he can do,” Rose said.
“I thought their defence and goalkeeper might have been a bit shaky, but we didn’t test them enough.”
The quarter final encounter was the furthest the local school had progressed in the competition.
“I thought we might have made the final 16, so to make the final eight was a good performance from the boys,” the coach said.
