STUDENTS from the Camden Haven High School Sports, Fitness, Recreation class organised and ran the Hastings Cup Football competition on August 16. The tournament involves public schools from Chatham, Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Camden Haven.

The students were tasked with organising everything such as the fields, canteen, school entry forms, trophies and the referees. The students wliaised with the schools, Football Mid North Coast, Camden Haven Redbacks Football Club and the field committee.
The day was a huge success with just under 200 players involved. The year 12 Sports Coaching class organised three competitions – Yr 7 boys, Yr 8 Boys and Yr 7 and 8 girls.
Camden Haven High School achieved a clean sweep, winning all three competitions. The referees also were involved with awarding the Golden Boot Award for the most valuable player from each competition, which, again, was a Camden Haven High School clean sweep. The Yr 7 boys winner was Aston Pollard, Yr 8 boys winner Jacob Robson and the Yr 7&8 girls winner Chelsea Hall.
“From a teacher’s point of view, this cohort of young leaders will benefit our community greatly with their dedication, commitment, positive attitudes towards helping the youth be active and positive in the future,” Brett Anderson said.
