The two day extravaganza of woodwork is on at the CWA Centre on Port Macquarie’s Town Green.
Spokesperson Max Garland said guild members had been kept busy over the past few months in preparing for the exhibition.
Members had been producing various items to be put on display and sold as part of the exhibition.
“We are really busy right now in preparation for the two day event,” he said.
“The great thing about this event is that, while it is our major fund raiser for the year, it also counts as a great way to introduce the guild and our work to a wider audience.
“Last year about 2000 people viewed the exhibition and sale days.
“We are quietly confident of getting about that figure again this year.”
Fellow member Ian Bagster said the guild catered for about 50 members, and was well-established inside Timbertown.
“We been in operation for about 22 years and in this building for all but five of those years,” he said.
“The guild works because it caters for men and women, it’s a place to come and work on major projects or individual items, we have a ready made market and it’s a fantastic meeting place.
“We are all about helping the community, working with wood and maintaining our skill levels.”
Coupled with that, guild members often produce items for schools, hospitals and visit local facilities including retirement homes.
The guild says this kind of interaction enables residents in retirement homes to talk about their experiences with timber and building things from scratch.
“There is a lot of interest in woodworking and wood making.
“They recently introduced a challenge where members were asked to produce a piece from pallet wood.
“There is a real sense of camaraderie within the guild,” the two men said.
The Hastings Woodworkers Guild exhibition and sales event is on Friday September 30, 9am until 5pm and Saturday October 1, 9am until 2pm at the CWA Centre, Port Macquarie.
Free entry, with catering supplied by the CWA ladies.
