Students pounded the pavement seeking sponsorship from the local community to participate in the reading-based event and thanks to their donations; extra funds are now available to purchase .
School Read-a-Thon organiser, Therese Debenham, is extremely proud of the way the students rallied behind the fundraiser.
“It was great to see so many students supporting their school by collecting sponsorship and participating in this fantastic initiative,” she said.
General Manager of The Fundraising Group, Brendan Hopp, said it is wonderful that schools have taken to this new fundraiser.
"We're into our third year of the School Read-A-Thon. We've found schools and students have really embraced the concept, improving their literacy all while raising some great extra money for their school,” he said.
“Thanks to their efforts over $800,000 will be raised this year."
