The group behind the Schools to Schools project is the latest to be recognised in the ONE Local Hero Awards. Every two months the team at ONE Agency North Haven donate $200 to a group or individual doing great things for the community.
“Camden Haven Schools to Schools is an organisation creating a community-uniting footpath to keep our people safe,” said ONE Agency director Gaven Whalley. “It’s a great example of a grassroots program that will bring many benefits to the area.”
The team steering the project have had a successful 2016 so far, raising $65,000.
“This was achieved by fund raisers at Christmas in July, Camden Haven Cup, Camden Haven Show Pig Races and grants from the Kendall Community Op Shop and Federal Government,” said secretary Jason Koenig.
“This money will go directly into volunteer-built pathway between Sirius Drive and Fairwinds Avenue.
“We have lobbied all levels of government to amend the pathways problem in our area. Collectively this has raised over $1 million for pathways in the Camden Haven.”
