Administration guru Val Hannon and sales consultant Chantelle Ansell were among the finalists at the national awards gala event which saw 139 newspapers vying for trophies.
To qualify for a national award was an intensive process and each nominee must have demonstrated the company’s values which include caring for their community, providing excellent customer service, creative marketing solutions and working cohesively to ensure the strength of their team.
The celebration on October 13 saw sales people from large and small newspapers come together to honour individual and team achievements.
Val Hannon received a highly commended award in the category of Best sales and Administration Support Person of the Year.
“With 139 mastheads represented this was not only well-deserved but a fantastic result,” classified channel manager, Jo Mansell said.
“I couldn't be more proud and thankful for Val. She has worked on almost every aspect of the Camden Haven Courier, from answering phones to special advertising campaigns. Val is always looking for fresh ideas to help our customers’ businesses grow and assisting advertisers in selling their products. She goes out of her way and loves being a part of the local community."
Val has worked at the Camden Haven Courier for 25 years.
Sales consultant Chantelle Ansell joined the Courier team in September after working at the Port Macquarie News and Great Lakes Advocate.
Chantelle earned a highly commended for her work with Debbie Marks Podiatry.
“The category was for an integrated sales campaign and, for the client, Chantelle not only put together an imaginative series of targeted print ads that had them overwhelmed with the response, but also worked with them to create a new website,” said Cathie Linklater, Hastings group sales manager.
“Your local newspaper is more than the print product that you’re familiar with. Our sales team, including people like Chantelle, have the knowledge and the ability to get your business noticed across many different advertising platforms – print and digital.”
