With over $2,000 in prizes to be won this event is always popular with locals and visitors.
There are more than 20 species of fish of legal length eligible to be weighed in for the competition. Prizes will be awarded for heaviest fish in each species, lucky draw prizes for any legal bream, flathead, whiting, sand mullet or garfish, as well as lucky angler prizes even if you don’t catch a fish.
A raffle with prizes including a top quality blackfish reel, camp recliner chair, butane stove, filleting knife set, boat hire and more, will also sweeten the event’s rewards.
Fishing opens Friday January 6 at 6am and lines must be in by noon Sunday January 8. The weigh-in kciks off at 1pm on Sunday at the rear of the LUSC on Seymour Street, outside the Sports Bar. There will be a barbecue and drinks available.
Entry forms and competition details are available at the LUSC foyer, Dunbogan Boatshed and North Haven Bait and Tackle. Entries close noon Saturday January 7. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for juniors (under 16).
