I am fairly unimpressed by the police ability to catch 2000 speeding drivers over the holiday period.

Back in the good old days when speed limits were either 60mph or 80mph breaking the limit was a fairly deliberate choice but today with limits set at 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and 110 kmph it is a different story.
Some of these signs are concealed in bushes and behind other obstructions so that it is very easy to miss one.
Even the most diligent driver would find it hard to say with any confidence that they will never get a speeding fine.
I'm not suggesting that all 2000 of those caught were actually driving with due care and attention, but just that the variety of speed zones is a nightmare.
The annoying road work signs are another problem. Frequently the traffic is directed to slow to 40kmph for non existent road works but as there is no end of road works sign, some drivers will assume that they should stay at that speed for the remainder of the day.
Give good drivers a fair go.
