The council, in a letter dated 10/2/17 has replied to me. The author stated that in 2016, the combined total storage for both Cowarra and Port Macquarie Dams was 12,500 megalitres. In 2016 the annual total demand for water was 5,600 megalitres - hey, isn't that pretty close to half of what we have?
The council reports that it regularly updates demand and population projections and develops long term works programs to meet the projected growth and demand.
Water supply is under regular review and the council states it is not practical to have unlimited storage capacity and unlimited supply. The council also reports that the need for water restrictions during periods of extreme dry have to be implemented.
Think about it, isn't that what I am on about bearing in mind in 2016 we used approximately half of what we have?
The council in summary, reports that it has a range of plans in place for infrastructure to accommodate the growing population in this local government area - ok let’s hear about them in coming editions of the Courier.
