“On Friday nights at dusk and later into the night the area is the scene of vehicle burnouts and road surface damage,” he said.
“I’ve reported incidents to police. Once they’re able to get there the vehicles are usually smashed or burnt out. The vehicles are then taped over with police or caution tape and then it takes weeks for a scrap merchant to remove the wreckage.”
The resident said some vehicles appear to be towed up to the old council gravel pit, stripped and, again, burnt.
“There were about 13 cars in there recently,” he said.
“Residents’ properties are being damaged. A fence was crashed into and burnt when the car was set on fire.
“You’d think tyres were cheap the way they carry on doing burn-outs.
“With this dry weather, sparks and setting fire to cars is so dangerous.”
Police encourage witnesses to report incidents of bad driving behaviour as quickly as possible to assist in tracking down the perpetrators.
