I would like to express some thanks publicly to the Kendall Op Shop Committee and volunteers for raising the money to sponsor the recent Strings Project at Kendall Hall on 16-19 February. Director of violin pedagogy at Sydney Conservatorium, Goetz Richter put together a program for local strings players of all ages and levels of experience.

A large group of adolescent students of violin, viola and cello through to seniors, and participants from the Great Lakes to Kempsey took part.
Goetz had invited fellow violin teacher at Sydney Conservatorium, Fintan Murphy, and cello teacher and graduate of Sydney Con, James Larsen. James is also the cellist in the Geist Quartet which performed along with everyone else at the Sunday afternoon concert.
In addition, a group of young men from the National Orchestra of Samoa joined in fully over the weekend and delighted the audience on Sunday with their singing as well as their music.
We all took away from the weekend a better understanding of how to play our instruments and the very special experience of playing music together in the string orchestra, led by such distinguished strings players and teachers.
All this was free to participants and concert audience members alike because of the dedication and efforts of the Kendall Op Shop volunteers. How very special that in the small community of Kendall here on the Mid North Coast, music and strings learning in our region is so strongly and actively supported. Thank you so much from all of us who benefited from this extraordinary opportunity!
