To thank the community, volunteers, builders and contributors of grant funds and donations, Kendall Tennis Club is hosting a gala grand opening of the newly-completed clubhouse on Orara Street.
“It’s been a long 16 months since construction started, but we could not have done it without the wonderful community support along with local tradesman and business that have donated their time and products,” Kendall Tennis Club president Wendy Hudson said.
“Once again this community has excelled itself.
“We even had tradesmen donate their labour who had no connection to the club. They just love the fact it was a project run by volunteers. Builder Martin Hocking, with the assistance of builder Mark Fyffe, have done a wonderful job.”
The clubhouse is a spacious, purpose-built, multi-use building complete with a commercial kitchen, pro-shop, big screen tv and trophy ‘hall of fame’ which features photos of the local junior tennis players alongside the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki.
The new clubhouse opening event will be held Sunday March 26 10am –2pm.
“The committee would love for the entire town to come to the opening and take a look inside this wonderful building,” Wendy said.
“There is a foyer area full of memorabilia, a beautiful kitchen thanks to the Kendall Op Shop grants, toilets, office space and club room.
“The clubhouse was made possible through a Community Development Grant from the state government which local MP Leslie Williams announced two years ago.
“The opening day will be full of activities for the kids, giveaways, lucky door prizes and some great exhibition tennis matches to watch on the centre court grandstand area thanks to the Men's Shed.
“There will be a full canteen running so come have some morning tea and/or lunch with us and check out the facility.
“President of TennisNSW, Greg Doyle, will be in attendance. The official unveiling will be around 1.30pm.”
