Swells are predicted to peak at around three to four metres in some areas but are forecast to be larger and stronger offshore.
The conditions look set to continue for a while longer with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a wind warning for the Byron Coast, Coffs Coast and Macquarie Coast for Thursday.
