Port Macquarie Clontarf Academy director Charlie Maher has organised the fundraiser. His cousin Ryan McDonald-Kerin from Alice Springs was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukaemia.
Ryan is currently undergoing treatment and will have a major operation in Sydney in April.
The Run 4 Ryan event is supported by the Port Macquarie Clontarf Academy, The Indigenous Marathon Marathon Foundation and the Port Macquarie Running and Walking Group.
“If you are able to support this great cause by running, jogging, walking or volunteering that would be greatly appreciated,” Mr Maher said.
The event will start at Westport Park on Park Street, Port Macquarie on Friday, March 31 at 5pm.
The 10 kilometre run begins at 5.30pm and participants are asked to give a $10 donation. The five kilometre run starts at 5.45 for a $5 donation. There is also a 3km walk or run for a $3 donation which begins at 6pm.
A barbecue will be at 6.30pm after the event.
