The funding is available in the new round of funding under the $360 million Bridges Renewal Program.
Director Jeffery Sharp said council is currently reviewing the criteria for the program.
“We will be making detailed submissions in an attempt to secure much needed funding assistance,” Mr Sharp said.
“Currently council is reviewing the potential to submit applications for the Reid Street Bridge, Dunbogan and Hartys Creek, on Comboyne Road.
“A review will be made to identify if any other bridge projects meet the specific criteria, being; improvements to the structure that will contribute to productivity and access; provide an evidence basis of economic and social benefits; the project is construction ready and appropriately manages risk; meets state priorities."
Federal MP Luke Hartsuyker said the program is a great opportunity for local councils to apply for funding to have ageing bridges fixed, with up to half the cost met by the Australian government.
“This will be the third round of funding under the program, which is continuing to keep communities connected and local industries profitable,” he said.
“Better bridges improve safety and access for communities, and keep businesses and the road freight sector powering on – delivering dollars into the pockets of local businesses and supporting jobs.
“The flooding experienced throughout the electorate over the weekend was another reminder of how important it is to have safe and reliable access to our communities.
“The Bridges Renewal Program helps to ensure that local councils can afford to upgrade or repair old and damaged bridges.
“Local residents who are concerned about the state of a bridge in their community should contact their council to find out about any plans they have to apply for funding, or put forward suggestions.”
Round Three is open for applications until May 15.
