It was heart warming to see the support for Jess Higgins and her family at the Kendall Services Club on Saturday. The club looked great and there was an amazing crowd.

I would like to make special mention of one particular event that happened on the day in amongst all of the excitement.
Logan and his preschool group from Kendall Community Preschool had worked on a wonderful artwork that was to be part of the auction. The children at preschool know that Logan’s mum is sick and he took the opportunity to talk to his friends about the fundraiser that, in his words, “is so mum can buy the medicine – heaps of medicine, so she can feel better.”
The children understand that Jess’ medicine is not like ‘Panadol’ or the ‘pink one’ that they have when they are sick, so they were very keen to help out with the Fundraiser!
When Jess came to pick Logan up from preschool on the day when the artwork, ‘Rainbow Rain’, was finished, she thought it was beautiful! Not just because it was especially for her event, but because when you are a parent and you see the love children have put into a collaborative artwork involving your child, it’s always gorgeous! (We noted there was a secret tear that rolled down her cheek too!)
At the auction, a group of parents and teachers from preschool agreed that perhaps in some way this artwork should belong to Jess. A collection was taken up so a good-sized bid could be arranged. Parents of preschoolers past and present and even people who just thought it was a good idea, donated to the group effort to buy the artwork and give it to Jess.
Soon, the collection reached and incredible $1,000! It seemed the community really thought that Jess should have it! We decided to withdraw ‘Rainbow Rain’ from the auction, instead purchasing it with the money and presenting it to the lady herself! It seemed right, and was quite emotional!
Thank you to each and every person who opened their hearts and contributed to the purchase. It was wonderfully unexpected, and we know that when Jess, Logan, Dale and Skylah are able to move back into their own home, there will be a special place on a wall for ‘Rainbow Rain’ that will remind them they have the love and support of a whole community.
